Within books 4-12 of the Aeneid (excluding the unprescribed book 5), important quotes and events are noted and divided into themes- these quotes are essential for paraphrasing/ quoting as evidence in exam essays and help summarise each book’s key points.

Each set of quotes/ events that are so useful for paraphrasing as evidence in exams are subdivided under themes and books.

Each character and their relation to different key themes in Books 1 and 2 of Virgil’s Aeneid are listed in this document. Each character featured in the two books are listed, and beneath them themes have been listed. Within each of these themes is a quote directly related to the character and theme allowing essay questions on both theme and character to be answered with appropriate analysis as quotes have been used.
