Gurdwara Project

Gurdwara Project

These are a series of project lessons I created for Year 7s who had completed a study of Sikhism. The task gets students to create/design their own gurdwara in groups and create a booklet that allows them to use their existing knowledge of Sikhism, including features of a gurdwara, Sikh teachings and impact on the wider community. Appropriate homework is set to guide students of what they need to complete at home. A peer-assessment sheet is included as one of the lessons is dedicated to students presenting their projects and reviewing each other against a mark scheme. I opted to use % rather than 'outdated' levels, but the mark scheme clearly matches up (using colours) to allow students to reach Levels 4, 5, 6 and 7.

6 Mark Question Planning Sheet

6 Mark Question Planning Sheet

A sheet I use with GCSE students for 6 mark questions doing AQA Religious Studies B course. They create a 'statement' for the question at the top and plan what key words/quotes they would need to include in their answer before composing it. There is then room for self-/peer-assessment at the end of the sheet. Useful as a plenary!

GCSE Revision Sheet

GCSE Revision Sheet

A sheet I use for revision purposes with students studying AQA Religious Studies B course. They write the topic (e.g. animal testing, climate change, abortion etc.) at the beginning of the sheet and write down as many key words, quotes, views and ideas as they can into the table. They can then swap and share ideas with a partner and add those. I would then provide them with an exam question (or a few…) on the topic and ask them to use these ideas to answer it. There are some sentence starters at the bottom of the sheet for less able students.
