Word documents containing assessment questions relating to each ‘I can…’ statement in the Numeracy/Maths Progression Pathways for Time. Curriculum for Excellence - Scottish Curriculum. Included is a Pre-topic Assessment to determine initial groupings and a Post-topic assessment to determine what progress individual pupils have made. Both assessments should be administered in a way that suits the needs of the pupils. Green column should be completed first - Phase 2 (P1) then the Amber column Phase 3 (P2) then the Red column Phase 4 (P3) by all pupils in the P2 class. The teacher can stop any pupils at any time if it is felt that the assessment is becoming too difficult. Initial groupings are determined by the questions answered in each column. Any questions incorrectly answered in the green column then that pupil is initially in the Green group. If all green questions are answered correctly but some/all questions are incorrectly answered in the Amber column then that pupil is initially in the Amber group, and so on, establishing 3 groups. Pupils should only be taught the ‘questions’ (I can …statements) in the column(group) they are in that they require to be taught and then should move to the next group - fluid groupings. The results from these Pivot Assessments can be used during tracking meetings with SLT to establish where pupils are in their learning and to determine Staged Intervention targets for individual pupils. This information can also be used to report to parents.
