In this pack are all the write up resources for Component 2B for the Pearson BTEC Tech Award in Engineering Level 1/2. This is based off the example work and uses the same cheap multi tool which is available cheaply from different websites. This includes a presentation with instructions on and the tasks broken down. A help sheet with the facts about the components used and help in writing the spec. There are worksheets for the observations in the photos. A reassembly guide for the multi tool. There is also a blank workbook to complete the work on paper.

This is a full resource for the Pearson BTEC Tech Award in Engineering Level 1/2 Component 2C. The making task based around the multi tool as used in the exemplar materials. In the pack is a powerpoint with multiple lessons to explain each of the tasks from production plan, manufacturing, write up and evaluation. There is a booklet to fill in with photos taken and write up about each task. A dimension sheet for the tool, help sheets for the production plans and an example. This has been used and moderated at all levels of Pearsons laid out expectations for Level 2 Pass, Merit and Distinction.

A help sheet that explains how to assemble parts in Autodesk Inventor. The sheet has written instructions as well as pictures to aid students. This is a great sheet to allow students to be in control of their own learning and progress once they start to assemble and be able to make independent progress. Also good for teachers who are not too confident with the program as it talks through the basic stages of assembly which can then be built upon to increase confidence and knowledge of the program.

This is a powerpoint for a STEM lesson about making a boat out of a piece of A4. This is a stand alone 1 hour lesson that can be used as a fun activity but also explains the design process, from initial ideas, research, developed ideas, modelling, testing and evaluating. All you need is a piece of card for each team, tape and some weights. 100g weights up to 1kg works well. (And some water).

2 different resources that can be used for lessons that need to be covered last minute. 2 different design tasks. Have used successfully for a few years, printed out and laminated and left in a draw for when a lesson needs last minute cover. Can be used by any specialism teacher and students can work in books or on paper. Based on a hierarchy system that differentiates the outcomes from a flash task, to a hulk task and finally an incredible task for high ability students.

6 different worksheets that can be used for various cover in both art and design and other areas around the school. There are worksheets for designing a football shirt, a racing car livery, a meme creator, design a garden, design a computer game cover and a pop art phone case.

Instruction and Help sheet for Autodesk Inventor. This double sided sheet explains the steps in both written and pictorial form for creating basic shapes, adding filets and chamfers to edges as well as how to create a revolves and sweeps in the program. Great resource for letting students explore the program and build on the skills on the sheet. Goes through the basics for anyone to follow and more complex modelling techniques. Great resource for less confident users of the program to aid their own ability and get to grips with the basic functions quickly. Starter or Plenary worksheet that highlights a number of products that have either good or bad points around Social, Moral and Environmental Issues. Excellent conversation starter for the topic and lays the foundations for the topic in the lesson.

This is a resource that includes a presentation around Alessi and different designers. Included are a powerpoint, 6 Alessi designers moodboards and a design sheet. The lesson asks students to design in the style of an Alessi designer using a mood board of that designers work to help them. There is also a ‘guess the price’ task at the end to show the impact of good design.

Two worksheets that can be used to aid in a Point of Sale lesson or used as an extension task. One sheet asks students to label parts of existing points of sale with a differentiated version for different ability students. The other is a sheet with two blank POS display units that students can use to design their own POS for the project they have done.

A worksheet which asks students to compare the nutritional content of different similar recipes. They also need to explain why they think they are healthier and how they could be made healthier. There are also 3 recipe sheets with different recipes that students can compare on the sheet. Great extension task for high ability students.

Presentation and resources that explain the theory of aerodynamics and streamlining. Presentation starts with a video on aerodynamics that students have a question sheet to fill out. There is a worksheet that has a differentiated version for students. This is used to show the knowledge they have gained and to help them explain the ideas of aerodynamics and streamlining. This will take about 30 minutes and can lead to some practical experiments using wind tunnels or fans and shapes to prove the theory.

Help sheet that explains the different parts of the ACCESSFM acronym with a number of questions. The sheet can be printed one sided for high ability students but it also has an another side which can be printed 2 sided to differentiate for lower ability students in the group. this side gives more information and what they should be looking for and commenting on.

Presentation document on design movements, there are 8 pages of different design movements that can be used in presentations or printed off for use in a classroom. There are also two activity pages that relate to the design movements featured.

Lesson that follows on from a previous lesson that introduces the ideas of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and builds on this with examples of the metals and the joining and treatment methods. Two activities, one is a card matching activity while the other is an information gathering activity which leads to group discussions about the learning. Starter and plenary on the presentation. A structures lesson based around making a structure to hold as much weight as possible. All you need is art straws, paper and some weights.

This is a power point and worksheet for teaching inputs and outputs for electronic circuits and circuit diagrams. There is a worksheet and information sheet for teaching students about different inputs and outputs and the power point reinforces that knowledge by asking students to draw different circuit diagrams using the information they have.

Included in this resource is a power point, a group worksheet and an individual worksheet. This lesson teaches students about different properties by linking the property with its definition and linking that with a particular product. This is done as a group and then individually on different sheets with a power point to guide the students through the lesson.
