Creative Writing Learning/ Revision Mat

I have used with for all students between the ages of 11-16 - however I'm sure it could work equally well for primary teaching. This mat contains some quick hints and tips about creative writing, useful sentence starters, notes on developing character, techniques and much more! Great to use as a print on to have on the students' desk for them to refer to, or as a differentiated resource for visual learners or those with SEN. Also useful for the AQA English Lang Paper 1 Section B.

Unseen Poetry - How to Analyse a Poem in 10 Steps!

two sheets per A4 page Gives students simple, step by step instructions on how to analyse a poem, along with hints and tips. I have used these sheets in several ways: As a differentiated resource for SEN students Stuck in to the front/back of their exercise books for reference As a revision document As part classroom activities One of the most successful ways that I have used this resource is by splitting my class into groups and giving each group an unseen poem on an A3 piece of paper. I then stick this sheet to the desk and ask them to use this in order to analyse the poem. When needed, I also allocate each student certain numbers from the list that are their responsibility. This allows for quick and easy differentiation and minimizes the risk of ‘stragglers’.
