‘The Tale of the Cocklebur Ick’ is a short (5 minute) song and video story featured in the ecological musical audiobook, Lost on Infinity by Rockford’s Rock Opera. It’s a sweet, but sad, tale that illustrates the meaning of extinction. In it, we are introduced to the Cocklebur Ick (a fictional creature from Victorian times) and join her on a journey to Infinity – the mystical island where the last of every species goes when it’s extinct. ‘The Tale of the Cocklebur Ick’ and Lost on Infinity are now being used as teaching resources by many thousands of schools across the world. They provide a sensitive and engaging way in which to introduce pressing ecological and extinction issues.
