KS1 and KS2 Art Vocabulary Progression Map

(0)
I used this word document to map out all of the key terms across all of the main areas of art, including visual elements and using a range of tools. This was paired with a vocabulary sheet which was stuck into the children’s books. Covers everything, great if you are thinking about how to ensure coverage in art terms in your school!

Art Vocabulary Sheet- Track KS1 and KS2 Vocab!

I made this for my school for all of the children to stick into the back of their sketchbooks (Junior School). At the start of each lesson, we discussed a key word relating to the ones on the sheet, we used the word throughout the lesson and then ticked it off on our vocab sheet at the end. There is also a correlating display for the classroom. Art was picked for a deep dive and vocabulary was the focus, this sheet, paired with a vocabulary MTP, display and the lessons got us a great review. So easy to use and very child-friendly!

This purchase includes 3 fully prepared lessons for your space topic! This is one of the best projects for engagement that I have created. The lessons revolve around the colour work of David Hockney and the subject work of Peter Thorpe. The children reflect on their work in terms of the formal elements, experimenting and reflecting in their sketchbooks and then apply their learning to create their own final piece. There is also the option to transform their art into digital art at the end, a real crowd-pleasure! I have completed this project with KS2 but it can be easily differentiated for KS1. You will not have to do anything else! Enjoy…

The children then created their own research sketchbook page where they reflect. The children then use a variety of media to create their own final piece inspired by the key artist. A very engaging and flexible project for your learners!

1960s Art Project

One of the best Art projects I have ever created and taught! The project consists of the children looking closely at fashion in the 60s, giving them lots of time to watch videos, discuss and compare. The children complete a double page spread of 60s fashion, using images and other media to decorate their page however they like- these always come out amazing. There is an additional step where the children can design their own 60s outfit with fabric either in their sketchbooks or even better- on a real mannequin! Amazing project for your students! I used with Year 5s and 6s but could differentiate for 4 and 3 too. Download includes powerpoint project slides as well as images for sketchbooks.
