Use Hallowe'en to stimulate creative writing responses from your class. Think about the genre of horror, and practise using poetic devices and techniques. A really good filler lesson, themed topically and a really enjoyable idea for cover or display work.
This is very summery - ideal for the last week of term. It is based around group work and pupils being effective participators and creative thinkers, working together to create something really special. I got the idea from something on Teachit, but simplified and *hopefully* improved it, aiming it at lower ability pupils.
A collaborative SOW put together on the novel with PowerPoints and worksheets. Aimed at top sets.
Using the lower end of the AQA English Language and Literature mark schemes plus some common SPaG targets. Glue this into the front of their books and then mark according to the code - no need for writing more than the kids anymore!
