This is a PSHE lesson for New Year, which can be used in upper KS1 or KS2. The focus of the lesson is to reflect on past achievements, before attempting to set some realistic New Year targets. The children will then produce their own poster of previous achievements and future targets, as well as considering how to manage goals and to increase the chances of being successful. The PowerPoint can be used for a class lesson, but could also be presented with no independent task as a school assembly. Children can discuss some risky online behaviour and identify ways of dealing with any problems or concerns. The idea is for the children to reflect on their own behaviour, while also establishing some basic ground rules for safe practice. This resource is most suitable for upper Key Stage 2 and is fully resourced with planning, a 9 slide teaching PowerPoint and independent tasks. A topical lesson for KS2 work related to Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. This is ideal for some enjoyable and informative creative writing activities around 5th November. The lesson involves exploring the events surrounding the Gunpowder Plot and then using this knowledge to write diary entries by Guy Fawkes. All of the key Gunpowder Plot information and some diary writing input is included in the teaching PowerPoint. All teaching input resources, differentiated activities (challenge task & support sheets) and planning are provided as part of the pack. The flexibility of the lesson means that I have been able to use it in Years 4 to 6, but it could also be easily adapted for younger children. An enjoyable and easy-to-manage short story creative writing lesson with a Halloween theme. This pack is designed for teaching 1-2 English writing lessons at KS2 and is great for developing text structure, grammatical awareness and imaginative language. *Note to my previous customers: This has been adapted from my 'Short Story Writing Lesson'. This original version has also been available in my TES shop for some time, so please check that you haven't already bought it! The topic is writing a short story with a spooky Halloween theme. The teaching PowerPoint contains a story opening for the class to read and analyse, followed by an independent writing task, in which the children can write their own Halloween stories or complete the example story. Opportunities for the children to plan their ideas are also built in, allowing for the activity to be extended over 2 sessions. In addition, there is an optional challenge activity contained in the PowerPoint, as well as writing support sheets for any children that require them. All planning is also included in the pack. The flexibility of the lesson means that I have been able to use it in Years 3/4 and in Years 5/6. A fun and easy-to-do Halloween activity for KS2 classes, which is ideal for a bit of spooky fun and for creating a simple display. The objective of the lesson is for the children to create an imaginative list of 10 things that a Halloween horror character would have in their 'Little Bag of Horrors'. Their choices can be as disgusting or creepy as they like, allowing for plenty of creative writing opportunities. The resource also has two writing support frames, so the task can easily be differentiated to your class' needs. I have used the activity across KS2, but it can also be easily adapted for younger children. Includes: • Teacher PowerPoint presentation - provides instructions and examples for introducing the activity. • Writing frame 1 - can be completed with the 10 chosen items and then used for display. • Writing frame 2 - can be used to add imaginative written details about each of the children's 10 items and can then also form part of the display. A PowerPoint of 100 'what if' questions, which can be used for discussion in your class. This is an ideal resource for use in KS2 and upper KS1 and covers a variety of topics: *PSHCE (friendships, target setting, relationships, changes, problem solving, etc.) *Internet safety *Personal safety *Moral decisions *Speaking and listening *Fun or unusual situations The 100 questions can be used in a variety of ways, including as a stimulus for discussion, ideas for independent work or just to explore a key topic for your class. They can also serve as part of a wider lesson or as handy 'time-fillers'. The questions can be worked through in order, selected by the teacher in advance or the children can pick them at random. Each main question also has 2 follow-up questions, allowing the children to discuss their ideas in pairs or small groups first. These resources are ideal for school E-safety Officers, computer science co-ordinators or primary class teachers, as they help to establish some basic e-safety guidelines and to create communication between home and school. 1. The newsletter is designed to be sent to parents of primary (KS1 & KS2) children, laying out advice for parents and explaining what the school aims to achieve in the area of online security. It has been written generically enough to be used by any school, but an editable Word version is also included. 2. The pupil contract sets out an agreement of important internet safety rules and expectations to be followed in school. It also has space for a signature from the child and from the parents. A full week of lessons and activities for KS2 reading and writing, based around the first 4 chapters of ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. These would be ideal for World Book Day, as part of a book study, for guided reading or for creative writing sessions. All teaching resources, differentiated independent activities and planning are provided as part of the pack. The teaching PowerPoint contains introductions to five separate lessons, as well as examples for modelling and discussing each independent task. There are five independent activities, so the pack can be used for a whole week or just for 1 or 2 lessons. The lessons: 1. Discussion of chapters 1 & 2, followed by children writing reports about suspected witch abductions. 2. Discussion of chapter 3, then children design a wanted poster for a witch. 3. A grammar lesson, using adverb sentence openers. Children complete spooky-themed worksheets linked to this. 4. Discussion of chapter 4, then planning a diary about an encounter between a witch and a child. 5. Discussion of diary writing and features, then children use their plans to write their own diary entries of the witch/child encounter. The flexibility of the lessons and the entertaining nature of Roald Dahl’s story mean that I have been able to use this pack in Years 3 to 6.
