A lesson to teach/revise structures with the conditional perfect. Ideal for a small class, each member of the class becomes an investigator of one particular structure, and then in a mini-carousel, students explain their findings to each other and write notes on the summary sheet. If there is an odd number (as in my class), you can use the slot with the student to do some specific oral work or other challenging activity. Extension activity on reverse is on the future perfect. Very challenging - not for the faint-hearted!

Whole lesson based on the Studio 1 unit 'mes reves' on the structure 'je voudrais' + infinitive. One activity is omitted due to copyright - page and exercise reference is included for Studio 1 textbook. Features a sentence-builder and a multiple choice quiz to finish.

1) Sheet focusing on masculine/feminine forms of jobs.
2) Sheet focusing on the PRONUNCIATION of these jobs.

Writing essays on films is a skill which students often struggle with, and it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what students need to do to improve their essays and get better marks.
This is a sequence of exercises which lead students toward writing their own paragraphs which would score highly in the A Level exams by drawing evidence from the film and analysing it. The exercises will also deepen students' understanding of aspects of the film 'die fetten Jahre sind vorbei', and give them valuable practice of analysing the characters, events and themes of the film.
Answers to the exercises are included (but for the full paragraph exercises, clearly many answers are possible).
A selection of progressive exercises introducing 1) some of the most common rules for determining the gender of nouns and 2) the most common ways to pluralise nouns in German. All vocabulary has been selected from (I)GCSE level resources. Both sections include 3 activities which could be used as differentiated work for the same class to do simultaneously.
A double-sided worksheet (file makes two A5 double-sided sheets) revising family members, adverbs of frequency and adjectives describing personality. Sentence-builders demonstrate how to compare family members - ends with a fairly amusing opportunity to say things like 'my mum is funnier than your mum!'; And a double-sided lesson of sentence builders describing your own family. Both suitable for lower sets.
A game/activity used to revise the topic of health. Full instructions included - print cards onto paper/card and put one set in an envelope (as many sets as you need for the class to work in pairs). Similar to taboo, but in reverse. Fun for advanced students.
Lesson and worksheet linked with Echo 3, chapter 2, unit 3, on the topic of school reports. The worksheet is a starter activity (based on types of words); the presentation contains a starter on 'denn/weil', and the lesson leads towards students' writing their own school reports for their teachers using comparisons. Potentially fun!
Comprehensive worksheet on the topic of health, focusing on practising and producing the verb structure 'second-final' (i.e. future, conditional and modal verbs + infinitive).
Because we all like to talk about what we WILL/WOULD/COULD/SHOULD do!! Great for GCSE classes. Clearly demonstrated using 'sentence-builders', which can also be used for revision, or to create longer pieces of writing.
A really useful double-sided handout to help German beginners ask people out, refuse/accept, give reasons why/why not. Grammar: modal verbs, future tense, conditional, subordination. Uses the ever-popular sentence- builder style of presenting multiple options for sentences. Great fun.
