Coronavirus: upbeat poem about the lockdown

Coronavirus: upbeat poem about the lockdown

(2)
I wrote this poem for children experiencing lockdown in the coronavirus crisis. It offers a cheering silver lining to the dark, global situation and, perhaps, to the young reader’s personal experience in these circumstances. It is a fairly simple poem, with rhyme, rhythm and a simple message about how quiet and peaceful the roads, sky and general surroundings have become, with references to nature - birds and butterflies - where normally there would be the rush of busy crowds and traffic.

The sheet invites description and similes for feelings, starter lines for suggestions of when care is needed, and a free line and space for further writing.
