English Calendar - Months & Days

(0)
This is a calendar that can be used with the Months & Seasons Memory Match Game & Worksheet to reinforce the days of the week & months of the year. The images are carried throughout all three resources to provide a visual reminder of each month. Laminated, it can be used from year to year in class, but I also provide a digital copy for parents to print and use at home.

The cards can be printed on Avery 5371 Business Cards or plain card stock paper. Each card contains either a French, Spanish, or English day of the week. Students must match the Spanish day to the English Day. The cards contain images of chalkboards & houses to reinforce which days are weekdays and weekends. They can be used with the Days of the Week Flashcards & Wheel.

French Personalized Family Album

Your students will each create a family album. There are singular and plural options for different family members, so students can choose to include an individual photo on each page (2 sisters, print a sister page for each) or print one plural page and attach a group photo. The first page is a cover, which can be folded in half to encompass the other pages. The individual pages should be cut in half and inserted between the cover before stapling along the folded edge. For this lesson, I work in small groups and break it up across 2 lessons (lessons are 15-20 minutes and my students are 4 and 5 year olds). I name the family member in French, “ton oncle,” and ask one child to tell me who that would be in English. Then, the children find their uncle(s) if they have any. I then name a color in French for them to color in the word “oncle.” Finally, to practice writing there is a line for them to write the relative’s name (or for parents to fill it in later for younger students), and a box to paste in a photo or draw a picture.

Jours de la semaine (French Days of the Week) Game

Printable game board (jpg file) to teach the days of the week. Students roll a die and move the appropriate number of spaces. If they translate the French day correctly, they stay on the spot. If they get it wrong, they move back to where they started. The first person to arrive at the weekend wins! Note: I use Sorry or Monopoly game pieces with my students. Variations: *Have the students move back one space (or x spaces) from where they landed if wrong or forward one space if right. *Take an extra turn if you land on the current day and answer correctly. *For older students, have them use the word in a French sentence (Today is Monday. On Tuesday I go to dance lessons.).
