A Personal Narrative and Conversational Resource for telling ‘news’ and organising narratives, for students with language delays or disorders. PURPOSE: Do your students find it hard to form a coherent narrative around their weekend activities, or notable life events, when asked? Students with language delays or disorders often struggle with formulating personal narratives. They may find it challenging to think up ideas, plan the narrative, or even consider what their listener/reader might want to know! With removable stars acting like a ‘star chart’, showing students which elements they have included in their narrative, this prompt sheet is a useful and fun way to work on: understanding of WH question words recalling details from events answering WH questions practicing asking and answering questions around others’ personal narratives in conversation reordering WH elements in their story to form a different sentence structure with the same content meaning INCLUDES: A ready-to-use prompt sheet and tokens, with WH-elements in place, along with extension questions; A modifiable blank prompt sheet with a separate page of WH-elements and additional information questions that can be rearranged to help form different sentence structures.
