Whole lesson for Life Cycles Assessment part of the using resources unit. Designed for AQA 1-9, new specification. Starter, exam question, information to collect and comparison needs to be made to give an opinion in the style of a 6 mark question. Information and pictures included so that the students can collect the information that they think they will need to answer the question. I have also put together a work sheet with the question to answer, the mark scheme, space for their notes and space to fully answer the question. I will then review the answers before the next lesson and set targets for improvement.
I put this resource together to help my Y11’s to revise for the required practicals. It gives a basic outline of the method for each of the 6 Chemistry practicals in the new 9-1 Trilogy specification, along with the variables (where necessary), diagrams of equipment, some hints and tips and safety pointers that may be useful for the exams. I have also included links to other topics in the specification - there is no information on these but it gives students an indication of where these practicals may be linked to other topics. I have found this really useful to use alongside exam questions.
A guide for the common command words in Science. For each command word there is success criteria, key words/phrases to use and a worked example highlighting where the success criteria are used.
Looks at the reactions and mechanism for reaction of aldehydes and ketone. Includes NaBH4 and KCN. Also covers chirality of products. Requires molymod kits.
An introductory KS4 lesson to the difference between atoms, elements, compounds and mixtures as well as separation techniques. Starts with a quiz to assess knowledge/recall. Literacy task and scavenger hunt/market place activity with a blank table to complete for separation techniques. A good starting lesson before leading in to a practical lesson of some of the separation methods. You will need a text book or revision guide to go along with this for extra information.
Contains everything you need to teach the Chemical Changes unit of the AQA specification, including the required practical for soluble salts and electrolysis. Designed for a foundation class but much will be suitable for higher tier too.
Designed for foundation class for new AQA 9-1 GCSE. This lesson follows on from the electrolysis required practical. Everything you need for the lesson is included here, rules for predicting products, AfL mini whiteboard activity and key word recap. Does not go into half equations at electrodes.

Lesson built around the summer 2018 exam asking students to write a method to find the density of an irregular object. This lesson was designed for foundation tier students.
Discusses the exam question, command word and what this means and key words. Covers the knowledge that students need about density to be able to understand the topic and answer questions. There is practice for students at each stage.
Finally students answer the question, look at success criteria and mark using model answer.
This document contains everything you need for a full hours lesson and practical. Includes starter reviewing knowledge of DNA, full method to extract DNA from kiwi fruit and differentiated questions to be completed during any down time. I printed these onto A3 paper, but could be used as A4 back to back. Space on the sheet for all work to be completed on it so no need for exercise books to get messy! Can be self, peer or teacher assessed using feedback box.

Designed to introduce a low ability/SEN class to chemistry. Demo group 1 metals in water and potassium iodide + lead nitrate to spark interest. They then carry out their own investigations to find out about the properties of some chemicals and their reactivity. Worksheet included for them to record all their observations/results.
