The Niagara Falls - Measurement Task

(0)
A task requiring students to utilise a range of measurements to calculate the amount of water that flows over the Niagara Falls. A range of measurements are interspersed with facts about the Niagara Falls. Students need to use length, Area, Volume, Capacity (liquid volume) along with Speed. This task ends with an open investigation into providing drinking water for populations. This worksheet is provided in PDF format along with MS Word to allow users to modify the content. The outcome of this activity should have students thinking about capacity (liquid measure) and a range of other measurements that have real world applications. It is highly recommended that some time is spent on the Niagara Falls. This could be redesigned into an inquiry investigation where the students have to identify and find the all the required measurements from web sources.
