Reggae

(8)
This is the first lesson in a reggae unit that I teach. The starter involves playing a selection of styles which leads into reggae. The main lesson activity involves some listening questions that pupils load up on their computers, listen with headphones and answer. Let me know if this is of any use to you - I've got loads more of these kind of PowerPoints for different units through KS3.

OCR GCSE Music Listening - Disco & Club Dance

(0)
A whole lesson - introduction to Disco & Club Dance. Includes starter questions, the main features and plenary questions. All audio clips are embedded in the PowerPoint so it should just play when the slide is advanced so the plenary exam question clips are at the end. I've included a second video for Club Dance as I've just discovered the video embedded has a swear word so the Kevin and Perry video is a better option. After the slide that shows all the features of the 6 club dance styles, there is an audio clip that plays all 6 in a random order. The activity is that students have to write down the order of the styles with this slide showing. Hopefully it will make sense when you play the PowerPoint. Good luck in the exam!

Introduction to Waltz (OCR - AOS3 Dance Music). Starter activity audio and first slide in the PowerPoint to introduce the topic. Information and characteristics included along with a video of the dance. Exam style question with extract also available. I use this an introduction which could progress onto composition and performance activities. I have PowerPoints for all the other dances and AOS 2 Shared Music - if you would like me to put all of them up, comment and let me know.

Diamonds (Rihanna) - Guitar

(0)
This is the first lesson that I usually deliver to my whole class guitar lessons. It has a worksheet for a starter and then goes into learning Diamonds on the guitar using 3 chords. Em Bm (a very simple version of this chord!) and A. I have found that it works well. The mp3 in embedded in the PowerPoint so it will just play so students can play along once they have learnt the chords. Enjoy!

GCSE Music Keyword Happy Wordsearch

This is based on the OCR listening syllabus but I guess it would for other boards. I put this into a revision pack for Y11 to recap on keywords. I have got quite a few more of these so if they are useful leave a comment and I'll get the others put up.
GCSE Music Texture Activity

Based on OCR but could be used for other boards. Pupils have to first name each texture from the written description. They then listen to short extracts and name the texture and style

OCR Music GCSE Listening - Styles and Features

(0)
A quick activity for students to learn the features of OCR dance and shared music (similar to my other uploads). The first slide shows all the styles, then an mp3 is embedded so students firstly have to identify which style it is from the list and then they have to give you 3 or 4 reasons why (naming features of the style). As I mentioned, the clips are all embedded so will just play when you click the slide forward. I have also included the clips as separate files for you to also download. Good luck in the exam!!

Pupil Music NC Booklet

Pupil Music NC Booklet

(1)
I use this for all KS3 pupils. Every time they feel they have met a NC target they can write how they have achieved it and tick it off. It works well for setting differentiated targets and helping pupils see their level and what they need to do to improve.
