This is the first lesson in a reggae unit that I teach. The starter involves playing a selection of styles which leads into reggae. The main lesson activity involves some listening questions that pupils load up on their computers, listen with headphones and answer. Pupils learn about classes of different drugs. I deliver this lesson for Year 7s. Ideally an IT room would be used for the the 2nd activity but can be done in any classroom. Comments welcome.

I use this for all KS3 pupils. Every time they feel they have met a NC target they can write how they have achieved it and tick it off. It works well for setting differentiated targets and helping pupils see their level and what they need to do to improve.

Introduction to Waltz (OCR - AOS3 Dance Music). Starter activity audio and first slide in the PowerPoint to introduce the topic. I use this an introduction which could progress onto composition and performance activities. This is the first lesson that I usually deliver to my whole class guitar lessons. It has a worksheet for a starter and then goes into learning Diamonds on the guitar using 3 chords. Em Bm (a very simple version of this chord!) and A. I have found that it works well. The mp3 in embedded in the PowerPoint so it will just play so students can play along once they have learnt the chords. Enjoy!

Another whole class guitar lesson. In the starter I introduce the chord of A minor and then do a call and response activity. Then students practice the transition from A minor to C major. The track is embedded so students can then play along with the music.

Based on OCR but could be used for other boards. Pupils have to first name each texture from the written description. They then listen to short extracts and name the texture and style

Lesson on Guitars. Uses the chords A major, E major, B minor and D major. Lesson is scaffolded with 2 extension tasks. MP3 transposed to the correct key for activity. For plenary, teacher plays strumming patterns in various metres and the pupils have to recognise how many beats there are in a bar. Comments welcome

A whole lesson! A quick starter to refresh students on relevant styles and features. Then a focus on how to answer the comparison questions with an example you can go through and then a question. Following this there is a descriptive question using the theme from Jaws as the clip with a question sheet provided.\n\nAll the mp3s are embedded show should just play when you click the track forward.
