This resource contains a PDF of the 'I can' statements for the counting aspect of the NSW Numeracy Continuum-Levels 0-5. Put a copy of the 'I can' statements in each student's mathematics journal to keep a record of when they achieve markers and levels. Alternatively, keep a copy for each student in an assessment folder.

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo makes many references to soup. One such reference is to chicken, garlic and watercress soup. Make or share this soup with your class as a part of the novel study to draw your students deeply into the text.

This Aboriginal story (language group unknown) is a creation story about turtles. It is in PowerPoint format. Use this story to provide an Aboriginal perspective in literacy. The title slide references the source of the story. The final slide provides a link to an animated version of the story of Wayamba (Wayambeh). Compare representations of the story. Ask students to make their own representation.

This resource is a series of conjunctions and punctuation writing lessons for Kindergarten/Year 1 in three formats- PDF, Smart Notebook and PowerPoint. It contains the conjunctions- and, because, but and so and the punctuation marks- ! and ?. Each conjunction or punctuation mark lesson contains three slides. The first slide introduces the conjunction or punctuation. The second slide gives the teacher an opportunity to provide a modelled writing example. The support worksheet groups the graphemes for each sounds in columns and has more emphasis on letter formation. This resource contains the 200 most frequently used words in English. The words are divided into 13 colour-coded levels. Use these levelled high frequency words as part of a Kindergarten or Year 1 literacy program. They can be sent home, one level at a time, as homework and tested weekly. Once the student has automatic recall of one level, they can move to the next. Use high frequency words in literacy groups. Students can write words on mini whiteboards or type on keyboards.
