Ppt introductory presentation to promote speculation about a series of photos Original article with idiomatic phrases in bold Worksheet with comprehension questions, vocabulary focus and discussion questions. Although my focus was advanced ESL, I'm sure this would work well with high school students and the focus could be varied slightly (social studies, media studies). Author note: Numerous attempts to obtain permission to use the photographs and article via the website http://www.crudethemovie.com/ have failed.

New Identities speaking activity for EAL/ESL students

New Identities speaking activity for EAL/ESL students

These were created for my primary age ESL students but would work well with a class studying "children in the world". There are 27 identities in total, which are printed on three pages. Cut out the identities and give each child one. Encourage them to circulate around the class and "meet " the other children. They need to ask questions to find out about the others. Tell them that these are real children from around the world. The information was taken from the Time for Kids site (with a few additions for information about pets). They can look for similarities and differences as well.

Happy New Year calendar lesson

Happy New Year calendar lesson

This is a worksheet for use with a 2017 year calendar. It is for young to middle school ESL students but would work equally well with young students learning the months, days and ordinal numbers. The year calendar I uploaded was not an acceptable format so it's not here, but you can easily find a free printable year calendar online. I have included some procedure suggestions in the teacher notes.

Binky the Dog young reader's text

Binky the Dog young reader's text

This short reading text can be used for extra reading or combined with comprehension questions. It is suitable for young readers and for young EFL/ESL readers. I wrote this text to add to my "library" of short texts which I give my young EFL students to encourage them to read for pleasure. I believe that giving them confidence in their reading and understanding abilities is an important part of preparing them for English Language learning as they progress through school. I print and laminate the sheets and allow them to take them home for the week until the next lesson. You can add comprehension questions if needed. I didn't as this is for reading for pleasure. The photo was taken off pics4learning.com Dog: Tinsley, Perry. sheltie.jpg. "Aug. 13, 1999". Pics4Learning. 29 Nov 2015
