A great project that costs your department very little in materials, as you can use up waste from other projects. We tend to use laser off cuts, smaller waste wood, plastic etc, coloured card and paint.
Students bring in their own shoe boxes, to build their model within.
Module/ Unit Aims:
To develop creativity through Designing, Making and Thinking in order to achieve the outcome of a Dream Room. The Dream Room will be the result of a developed product through research and designing. Students will develop a model of the Dream Room through the use of CAD software. They will develop the ability to critique and improve their own work by showing understanding in annotation and evaluation throughout the project. Showing they are able to make just decisions for their design, Students will produce Dream Room which has been scaled to fit with a shoe box. Student will use sawing skills, cutting skills and some CAD and CAM skills to assemble their Dream Room. Students will develop knowledge of sustainability, as they will be using materials which would have otherwise gone to waste.
You can provide materials such as scraps of fabric, off cuts from the laser etc.
