Focus on: Young Carers When we think about all of the different key groups that are represented in our classroom we often overlook the Young Carers that sit in our rooms, it’s likely that we don’t even know who they are but with the BBC estimating that there are more than 700,000 young carers in the UK chances are that you teach at least one child who spends their time outside of school caring for someone who relies on them. The Young Carers charity reports that this group of young people miss an average of 48 days per year caring for someone at home and 68% face bullying because of their ‘responsibilities’. This group of pupils needs us to see them and to support them, consider the following to develop your practice and to support these pupils.

Tips for Dealing with Imposter Syndrome

(0)
Tips for Dealing with Imposter Syndrome Imposter Syndrome is the name that has been given to a set of feelings that many, if not all of us, have suffered from at some point. Collins English dictionary defines it as: a persistent feeling of being unworthy of one’s status or success. It can be paraphrased as feeling as if you are always just about to be caught out, always as if you somehow got your job/position by fooling everyone and any time now they may just realise. It can affect even the most successful people; Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks and Lady Gaga have all famously shared their experiences with this ongoing battle. At worst, Imposter Syndrome can cause extreme anxiety and can ultimately affect every area of your life. We can’t claim to cure Imposter Syndrome, indeed we are still trying to keep it in check in our lives, but we can share these tips that have helped us to keep it manageable.

The importance of a “Department… Guide for Dummies”

The complexity of a well run department is hard to encapsulate in a quick meeting or inspection. You can be ready to show all that you do with a version of the famous guide books, but in this case, with what you are as a department. You can allocate a maximum of one page and have this ready for any visitors, or even, a quick guide for your headteacher or any new teachers for them to understand the vision and philosophy of the department. Although every department has its own priorities, strengths and systems, ensure these are part of your guide: About us. As experienced Middle Leaders we were tired of seeing all the resources and CPD out there for senior leaders and classroom teachers with nothing for us. Overworked and often overlooked the role of the Middle Leader is arguably the most important in ac school, as we say ‘the cog that makes the school work’. Udemy Course: School of the Future: Agenda 2030

(0)
Udemy Course: https://www.udemy.com/course/schools-of-the-future-2030/?referralCode=EFEB169B135CE586F8FC In this course, we will discuss how schools need to transform to be ready for the future. We will use research to understand how this will happen and why this is important in today’s global economy and context. We will discuss the obstacles that education will face during this transformation, and suggest solutions to make your vision for 2030 a reality. We will approach the planning needed and the importance of local, contextual planning. The course will show why this transformation will make an impact. Our Agenda 2030 will equip you with the tasks and skills needed to lead this transformative project in sections that you can easily fit around your commitments. We will discuss how the interaction between stakeholders (students, teachers, subjects, school and parents/carers) will, and should, change. We will be realistic and grade how likely our ideas are to come to fruition, but will also allow ourselves to dream about an even better environment of learning and experiences for students in order to maximise teaching and learning; ultimately ensuring that our students will be able to access highly skilled communities by sharing their values and skills. We are Mentoring the Middle and we support school leadership development by focusing on Middle Leaders. Being middle leaders ourselves, we understand the important but somehow forgotten role of Middle Leaders, and we are determined to change this.
