Macbeth Meets the Witches Act 1, Scene 3 - GCSE English Literature Lesson

(0)
An engaging lesson based on Act 1, Scene 3 of Macbeth. Features a contextual based starter (with links to the new English Language Paper Q1) where students must list four things they learn from an article about witchcraft. After reading the scene, students complete a worksheet where they find four key quotations and then explain the effect on the audience. Students must then write and script a YouTube style blog post where they detail Macbeth's thoughts and feelings after his encounter with the weird sisters. This engaging activity also encourages students to use key words from the text. The plenary involves students leaving 'comments' on their partner's blog posts. An up to date and engaging lesson.

Whole School Literacy Punctuation

A slide-show with printable posters for classrooms; I usually use these at the start each year to remind students of important punctuation. I have used the slide-show as part of a whole-school assembly and then the challenge at the end is used as a reward scheme.

QUESTION 4 AQA ENGLISH LANGUAGE PAPER 2 LESSON NEW1-9 SPEC

This lesson helps students to understand the requirements for the main reading question of Paper 2. A lot students struggle with understanding what the writer's opinions and attitudes are; this lesson helps to guide them through the question with a starter, broken down examples, grid activity, example answer and clear links to the new marking criteria. PLEASE NOTE: The source material for this is based on the AQA Key Stage 3 Test Pack (Year 7 Pack 1 Paper 2 - Amber and the Watercress girl). This is easily available on the E-AQA website, hence why it's not included here. This is very well suited to middle - lower ability GCSE students.
