These papers test skills that appear on both foundation and higher tier papers. Each paper has three versions to choose from: Bronze, Silver and Gold. They are the same questions, but the amount of scaffolding is adjusted in each. There are worked solutions to accompany every paper. We are starting to see more and more questions at GCSE asking students to spot and correct the mistake made. Clumsy Clive and Erica’s errors problems by @andylutwyche for are a perfect way to tackle this and I have edited and collated them togther. “Erica has made some silly mistakes on her homework. Your students’ task is to find the errors, correct them and explain what Erica has done incorrectly. This should generate discussion in class.”

Great little activity for starters. Good for differentiation/mixed ability sets. I've tried to make sure that there is a reason every one could be the odd one out on each slide so that students can give more than one answer and/or more than one reason as well. Differentiated by outcome so allows students of different abilities to perceive the problem in their own way. I will update the resource with more variations over time so keep checking back and re-downloading.

Goal free problems are GCSE questions without the question! Just the information. This allows students to create and answer their own questions which is the highest ranking skill in Bloom’s taxonomy and means the task is instantly differentiated by students’ outcomes. Enjoy!

Welcome to the my five-year curriculum plans for years 7 to 11 mathematics. I have written the overview and curriculum plans for years 7 - 11, however (as we are only rolling this out at my school to years 7 to 9 in the next academic year) diagnostics and assessments are currently available for Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 only. Write, Replicate, Review - REVISE

Simple but effective way to recap a lot of basic skills with your class before an assessment, PPE or exam. Write - you complete an example at the board. Talk through how to do it and students watch and WRITE down everything you do. Replicate - students are given a similar example to complete themselves. They must REPLICATE what they have just been shown. Review - You then REVIEW the question together. Either answer it at the board with them or project and talk through the answers to keep up the pace of the lesson. Revision - Students add to their REVISION list on the final page any topics they they feel they struggle with. I can cover around 12 key topics in a 60 minute lesson this way but beware - it only covers the basic skills and should be supplemented with lessons on problem solving, exam technique and exam style questions. I’ve split into the main topic headings so it is easier to find the questions you require. Yellow = Foundation only Green = Crossover topics Blue = Higher only There is a pdf version in case you don’t have smart and for ease of printing students booklets.
