I am a Science and Geography teacher in an international school. My resources relate to KS3 and KS4 Science and Geography following the Cambridge IGCSE and Checkpoint Curricula. My partner is also a teacher of Spanish, French and German so we make resources for these subjects too.

Rainforest Protection and Use Decision Making Task

(0)
Ideal for KS3 or KS4. The worksheet deals with land use in the Indonesian rainforest and asks pupils to read about the standpoints of different groups including miners, farmers, local council members and others and make a decision on how to use the rainforest most effectively. This culminates in pupils using a map of Borneo (given on the worksheet) to zone different land uses in the most appropriate places and explain why they chose each area. The sheet can work as an activity on its own or could be used to scaffold a debate task. Resource created for the Environmental Management part of Geography IGCSE Theme 3 but could be used at various levels as the language in the task is not too challenging.

Rapid Report Writer (Secondary) - cut down your report-writing time

I have made this spreadsheet to massively reduce the time-spent on report writing. All of us teachers know, this can be a huge loss of time at critical points throughout the school year. Simply: Enter the name of your pupils (up to 250 pupils at a time though you can extend this easily) Select appropriate comments for gender, subject, behaviour, effort, grades, homework, study and aims from the dropdown menus (no writing involved for you). The full written report will appear in the final column (AN) of the spreadsheet, just copy and paste this into the word doc or computer programme you are using for reporting. I have tested, I “write” around 50 reports an hour using this tool, which massively reduces my workload and lets me concentrate on producing the best lessons I can for my pupils, which at the end of the day, is far more important! QUICK TIP: There are hidden columns if you wish to edit the text between the drop-down menu comments, though I wouldn’t recommend this as it may throw the formatting out.
