KS2 Maths SATs Booster Revision Packs: ten minutes a day for ten days - ideal Easter holidays

KS2 Maths SATs Booster Revision Packs: ten minutes a day for ten days - ideal Easter holidays

These revision packs are designed to prepare children in the run up to the National Curriculum SATs tests at the end of Year 6. The packs includes 10 days worth of questions that target key areas of the Mathematics curriculum. Each day is designed to last ten minutes and comprises both arithmetic and reasoning problems (thus, 10-4-10). There are three differentiated packs for: children working towards National Standard, those who are targeted to achieve the National Standard of 100+ and those exceeding the standard at greater depth. This resource is ideal for Easter holiday revision as there are answers and explanations of workings included for parents. Equally, it would be useful for booster sessions when there is limited time in the run up to the national tests.

Grammar, punctuation and spelling daily reading task stickers

Grammar, punctuation and spelling daily reading task stickers

This is a fantastic resource that can be used to 'drip feed' children with the appropriate grammar, punctuation and spelling knowledge for the 2016 National Curriculum and Key Stage 2 spag test. Each week, a child can be given a sticker in their daily reading log or home school planner (print the document, which is formatted in word, straight onto 99.1 x 38.1 mm address label stickers - 14 per sheet) . Each sticker has a grammar focus and simple task for children to consider while undertaking their daily reading. Each focus is clearly explained on the sticker and, through children's daily reading, spag is practiced in a meaningful context. Tasks can be used for any period of time, I tend to use them as weekly focuses - which gives appropriate time for repetition and consolidation of learning. Explanations of key terms on the stickers are useful for pupils and parents and can provide a stimulus for discussion beyond usual reading response activities. I've used these and noticed fantastic improvements in children's knowledge and tremendous GPaS SATs results. They're ideal for spacing out the vast amount of technical knowledge and vocabulary required to succeed. Key areas covered are: parts of speech (determiners, nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions/subordinating conjunctions), active and passive, verb tense (present, past, progressive), apostrophes, synonyms/antonyms, word roots, hyphens. Perfect for Year 5 and 6.

Year 5 Spellings - for the full academic year (NC2016 ready - incorporating years 5 & 6 word lists)

Year 5 Spellings - for the full academic year (NC2016 ready - incorporating years 5 & 6 word lists)

This download contains weekly spellings for the whole of Year 5 - 36 weeks worth of spellings which are grouped into lists of 14, with meaningful links and spelling patterns. Collectively, the lists cover many aspects of the spelling statutory requirements of the National Curriculum 2016. If used in conjunction with the Year 6 spellings lists, which are also available from my shop, then all statutory requirements for upper key stage 2 will be met over the two years. Moreover, the 100 words from the years 5 and 6 word list are fully incorporated throughout the spelling lists - within meaningful spelling contexts. These lists are designed to be sent home as weekly spelling tests, with the 15th 'bonus' word chosen at random from those learnt in previous weeks, enabling repetition and revision. I hope you find them useful.

Times tables practice grids - Upper Key Stage 2 Year 4,5, 6

Times tables practice grids - Upper Key Stage 2 Year 4,5, 6

These can be used regularly to improve children's aptitude with multiplication tables in readiness for the statutory 2017 Year 6 multiplication tables test. Every grid has answers too, which speeds up marking. I copy the answer grids onto acetate to create an overlay, which ensures fast and accurate marking. Children can also use these to peer assess easily, and also reliably, too. I use these in my class every week (there are 20 in total) and I believe they are the sole contributor to children making excellent progress with their times tables, which then underpins so much else in maths. What's more, the children find them motivational and can see their progress as their speed increases and they get more correct answers. The children work against the clock and record their finishing time each week on the front sheet, great for mental maths! The fastest I've known a year 6 pupil to complete the grid is 2mins 38secs, but my class mean average is about 8 minutes. Let me know how your children get on...

Coordinates - Year 5/6 (with reflection)

Coordinates - Year 5/6 (with reflection)

A fun lesson activity where children must first collect a series of coordinates using their knowledge of compass points and angles. They must then plot these on a grid, joining them as they go. They must funally plot the reflected coordinates in the y-axis (again joining them as they go to reveal a mystery image - skull and cross bones).
