I am first and foremost a classroom teacher specialising in Religious Studies, Moral Ethics and Philosophy. However I also work as an assistant head teacher with responsibility for whole school teaching and learning. Although most of my time is spent on management and systems it’s important that I don’t forget that quality lessons are the best possible way to ensure students make the progress they deserve. This is a ‘flipped’ classroom approach to learning. Students will need to complete pre-reading before this lesson. Pre-reading can be found in the worksheet ‘Almighty God – characteristics’. Learning objective: To explore how the characteristics of the Almighty are shown in Torah (Jewish Holy Book). Learning outcomes: Explain the idea of God as the creator and almighty. Apply the characteristics of God that are shown in the Torah to an exam question. Compare and contrast the Jewish and Christian beliefs about God as ‘one’ and as the ‘trinity’. A differentiated lesson for the media section of Religion and Society - Community Cohesion. Covers the Oxford rape gang and whether or not it impacts negatively on ethnic/religious groups in society. Booklets are labelled as Higher, Middle and Lower. I would recommend printing the booklets Pink, Green and Yellow. The lesson plan contains further information on how to potentially lead the lesson. Of course tweaks are always needed to suit your class. Enjoy :) Graded as an outstanding lesson.
