This lesson introduces students to the idea of the stock market and how it works -initially through a brief video and followed by a game students can play independently/in pairs or in groups/ were students can experience the stock market. Exam technique covered in this lesson is the 4 mark question. Although this lesson is designed for the new spec it could easily work with the old spec too. Speculation on the stock market is a really difficult concept for students to understand. To fully understand the causes of the wall street crash they need to be able understand how the stock market works and the risk involved. All resources provided for the game. This lesson is designed to be taught over 2 - 3 hours as not only does it explore the roles of women and the changes they experiences in the 1920s but it also looks at new Paper 1D Q1 - 3 Interpretations exam technique. The lesson provides the following. An overview through video on how life for women changed. Card Sort looking at whether life changed for all women & were there some limitations. 4/8 and 12 mark question. The ppt offers further extension and exploration of 2 interpretations (provided by AQA for the new spec) on how life for women changed in the 1920s. Mark Schemes are also provided for each of the 3 questions to support in accordance to the new spec assessment. This lesson has been created for KS3 students and covers the transatlantic triangular trade route for the topic of Slavery. The purpose of the lesson is for students to learn who was involved in slavery transactions, and how it was set up to work. Student are then to begin to consider why it was possible for this to work the way in which it did. Who were the enablers? The lesson offers an opportunity for fun paired work when exploring the transatlantic trade triangle. Individual tasks include exam technique in the format of a 4 mark ‘describe’ question in addition to other tasks. All accompanying resources are included in Microsoft PowerPoint format and suggested learning outcomes provided with space for you to add your own accompanying grades. Additionally, I have provided instructions and advice in the format of ‘Teacher notes’ underneath each slide, to view these you need to come out of full screen mode. I have taught this lesson to both Y8 and Y9 depending on where Slavery falls in the schemes of work. I really hope you enjoy teaching this lesson as much as I do! This includes assessment for the new style questions 1 - 3 (and Q4 to bring the paper out of 20). 2 interpretations on women are offered and the 3 new style questions to accompany. In addition the paper also incorporates a feedback and review lesson helping students (and teachers convert grades to the new 1 - 9 grades based on percentages. This is the grading system we have created for the use in my history dept. It also offers a conversion back to old levels and old lettered GCSE grades to help students understand their new grades better. Also attached is an alternative assessment I used with my Y9s which asks students to answer Q4 & 5 style questions. The assessment is for students who have been studying Paper 1D AQA new spec - economic boom and the roaring 1920s.

A well presented lesson on the 1066 The Battle of Stamford Bridge in the run up to the penultimate lesson of the Battle of Hastings created for KS3 history students on Microsoft Powerpoint A little about the lesson Students explore the Battle of Stamford bridge between two of the contenders Harold Godwinson and Harald Hardrada. Students are provided with the pieces of the events that occurred at the Battle of Stamford Bridge which they must piece together themselves. There are 2 optional tasks provided in this resource to accommodate with teachers printing budget allowances in schools! Students can either cut the cards with the images provided or they can arrange the statements and put them into a storyboard of their own, adding their own images for a potential homework task. Students are then encouraged to draw conclusions from the Battle of Stamford bridge and communicate these in writing through PEE paragraph exercises (which could be extended through a suggested homework piece included in the resource) Whats included? A whole 1 hour lesson powerpoint is included (there are teacher notes also under some slides). Student worksheets/resources are included in hidden slides in the relevant points of the presentation and also as an additional Powerpoint for ease of printing. Homework, Learning Objectives and outcomes have also been completed in this resource, however, they can easily be tweaked to suit the needs and ability of your classes. This lesson has been created for KS3 history students and covers the key historical skills of bias, fact and opinion. The purpose of the lesson is to get students to identify and understand bias, fact and opinion and how it can be applied and affect our understanding of history. This resource has been created in Microsoft PPT and all accompanying student worksheets and aids have been included and created also on Microsoft PPT and Microsoft Word. This resource has been designed to be taught over the course of a one hour lesson and has been designed for the history curriculum, however, the activities are focusing more on skills and applying them rather than historical content so could be applied to other subjects requiring the same skill sets. Activities include keyword match, paired work and peer assessment, biased fictional writing, seek and find fact and opinion activities and a linking activity. Please check out the teacher notes underneath the powerpoint slides for any additional information/ suggestions. Also some of the slides require you to be in full presenter mode in PPT in order for the animations to work for marking answers/ individual statement activity. This resource is a** bundle of 4x 20 question tutor time/ form time quizzes** created on Microsoft Powerpoint suitable for KS3 and KS4 secondary students. Included in this bundle are the 4x September Tutortime Quizzes each being sold separately for £1.49. September Week 1 September Week 2 September Week 3 September Week 4 With printable A5 Answer sheets and a leadership points board on Excel. I publish a new 20 question quiz weekly during term time; This bundle of quizzes were created for the month of September, however they can be used at any date as the questions are not time/season dependent. I love doing a weekly quiz with my tutor group at the end of the week on a Friday morning - so its a great activity to start in formtime as we go back to school for the start of the new academic year! There are 20 general knowledge questions in each quiz varying from geography to history, science. maths, literacy and world trivia. Weeks 1 & 3 are general knowledge Q&A format whereas Weeks 2 & 4 are multiple choice format. The answers are provided across 2 slides at the end of the quiz - each answer is revealed per click. I would recommend for this quiz students get into groups of no more than 4 and the activity should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Please keep an eye out for my weekly quizzes and review/leave feedback if possible. Also if you prefer the terminology ‘form time’ to ‘tutortime’ then I have provided an alternate title you can swap in at the side of slide 1 on the Powerpoint. Celebrate World Space Week this October (UK) with your classes or tutor groups with this resource bundle which is a combination of my 50x question quiz, Crossword puzzle (much of the content is covered in the quiz) and Wordsearch. These resources are themed around the event and all three resources come complete with answers. This resource for World Space Week quiz created on Microsoft Powerpoint suitable for KS3 and KS4 secondary students. Quiz There are 50 multiple choice questions in this quiz covering facts and knowledge about space and the solar system, picture matching with keywords, spacial ‘firsts’ and astro achievements as well as space in music, tv and film! The answers are then to be shared as a class either by going through each question (ensure you are in present mode for the correct answer to colour green) for students to peer or self mark. You could alternatively use the quick answer quiz sheet variation of this quiz if you would prefer to speed things up! Crossword Also included is an 18x question crossword complete with answers. Most of the answers to questions within the crossword worksheet are covered in the Quiz so I would recommend the quiz is completed first! The answers to the crossword make up the wordbank students will need to complete the wordsearch activity! Wordsearch Finally, there are 3x worksheets included in this resource - all have the same words to find. 2 wordsearches do not have a wordbank as students need to first complete the crossword puzzle and use the answers from the crossword to discover which words to find in the wordsearch. These are differentiated as Medium and Hard in the files. There is an additional wordsearch with a wordbank if you wish for students to complete the wordsearch as a standalone activity. This lesson has been created for KS3 students and covers life in inventions of new technology for the textiles industry in the Industrial Revolution. The purpose of the lesson is to get students to investigate new technologies invented to develop the textile industry from the domestic industry through to the factory industry in the 18th Century. Student are then to consider the significance of each invention and in what way they sped up the Industrial Revolution. The lesson offers an opportunity for group work when exploring the different inventions and the inventors developed during the 18th Century. Youtube video links have been offered under each handout slide if you choose to create QR codes linked to the URLs so that students can view each invention working. Exam technique is also practiced in this lesson in the format of a 4 mark question. All accompanying resources are included in Microsoft Powerpoint format and suggested learning outcomes provided with space for you to add your own accompanying grades.
