Exciting and innovative resource. Starts with Board Game, pupils collect 'Gansta' card (which will decide whether they are in the Capulet or Montague gang) and quotation cards on the way around the board. They finish with a Prince question card. This will then lead to a matching activity, character with quotation. Differentiated cards allow for progression and allowing the more able students to be challenged. Activity leads onto a class discussion and role play as to each characters' responsibility for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Learning Aims: To introduce students to the theme of Tragedy, Revenge, the ‘Butterfly effect’ and characterisation and motivation. To familiarise students to the main characters, language, setting and plot. To enable discovery-based learning within small groups. To lead to further discussion of character roles and responsibility towards Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, based on exploration of quotations. Prince holds court with questioning suspects.
