Personification Poetry - year 6 (Forest theme)

(10)
Plan and resources for a year 6 lesson based around personification in poetry. I also took in real fruit and vegetables for the children to generate ideas in groups based on the vegetable art in the lesson introduction. The main part of the lesson focuses on creating personification based on the forest and writing their own ideas on the outline of a tree. In response to comments below poem now found and added.

Pirate Treasure Island - Descriptive Writing VCOP

(12)
A VCOP warm up lesson that leads into a descriptive piece of writing. The lesson is introduced through a letter in a bottle (I printed and tea stained it). The powerpoint illustrates a journey taken through a desert island to find hidden treasure. I also had a treasure chest with relevant props for each group to handle and look at to help generate ideas e.g rusty lantern, rope, parrot feathers, keys, ancient statue, shells etc... N.B The VCOP word cards came from another TES resource that I have linked to.

4 French Lessons and Resources: Numbers, Days, Months & Seasons KS1/2

3 Resources
A bundle of 4 French Lessons and accompanying selection of resources covering Numbers, Days Months and seasons (planning also covers basic introductions and talking about your age) Suitable for KS1 / lower KS2. Teaching all 4 lessons should help children learn to say the date in French. The flash card resources can be used for display boards too and the 'Days of the week' lesson includes a class calendar for you to print and display to show today's date. Individual lessons and resources include: Introductions and Numbers, Age and Months, Days of the week, Seasons All lessons follow a similar pattern and activities. Each lesson plan contains 3 sections (lasting approx 1 hour depending on your group size, ability and how long you decide to spend on certain parts): an introduction - circle time activity main - interactive games, flash card activities and practical group activities independent activity and goodbye - time to complete independent worksheets and activities and say goodbye. The planning is fairly flexible you can spend longer on some parts than others, do activities as a whole class or print multiple resources and work as smaller groups - whatever works for your group of children! Some of the resources are in Word and PDF format so that you can edit if necessary. All the images I use are free to use and distribute with CCO licenses.

SATPIN Phonics flashcards Tool Theme

(1)
SATPIN Phonics flashcards with a Tool Theme. Get children to pick two purple letters and one green to see what words (or non words) they can spell and sound out to read. Once they they have the letter recognition, I have included a blank set so they no longer have to rely on picture prompts.

French Garden Flash Cards and Colouring, Early Years, KS1

(2)
This resource, aimed at Early Years/KS1 contains 11 flash cards covering French vocab of things you'd find in the garden. The flash cards are also presented in a bunting style so that if you wish you could laminate and hang in your outdoor area. The final activity is a sheet of blank garden objects to colour and stick to create your own garden scene. Children could draw a basic garden first and then stick objects onto it or just stick to a brightly coloured piece of paper, as they are doing this to help reinforce the French vocab you can ask them if they remember any of the items in French or tell them the words again as they are sticking. Word and PDF files included so that you can edit/add to if you wish. All images are free to use and distribute with CCO licences.
