The notebook includes, pulling out the features of a WAGOLL, building a success criteria together, examples of different sections of the instructions and an opportunity for a structured shared write. My Year 3 class really enjoyed cutting out the pictures and putting them in order and then, after structuring the steps together, they could independently write their own instructions.

The Christmasaurus VACE (verb, adjective, adverb, clause) sheet

The Christmasaurus VACE (verb, adjective, adverb, clause) sheet

This lesson is brilliant for helping children improve a very basic sentence, build vocabulary and work on sentnce structure. The Christmasaurus walked in the snow. Add a VERB, ADJECTIVES and ADVERBS, a subordinate CLAUSE and EXTEND even further. The children are required, in different stages to up-level and improve the sentence so that by the end of the two lessons, they will have a really detailed and brilliant sentence. This activity took me two lessons because we really focussed on building the children's vocabulary and I modelled each stage with them -> see attached WAGOLL and picture of working wall.
