Crime & Punishment Resource Pack

(0)
Use our Crime & Punishment resource pack to give your students creative exercises linked to the topic. It also works as a great reinforcer if you have booked one of our school workshops. To view our workshops, head to www.pastproductions.co.uk/schools/workshops WHAT’S INCLUDED CAPITAL PUNISHMENT COMPREHENSION This resource looks at how capital punishment was abolished in the United Kingdom. We use the case study of Ruth Ellis: the last woman to be hanged in the country. It should get your students to consider whether the death penalty is an appropriate punishment for anyone. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT DEBATE This resource will help you to plan and run a simple debate about the question “Should Capital Punishment be used to punish murderers”. Your students will need to demonstrate their understanding of the term ‘death penalty’. Then they will need to weigh up the pros and cons of each side of the argument before picking a side defend in the final debate. It should get your students to consider whether the death penalty is an appropriate punishment for anyone. FOLLOW UP BOOKLET This resource was designed to give students a reminder of all the things that you can learn from one of our interactive workshops. We have designed it so that each page covers a different era of crime & punishment. Feel free to use any of these pages if they will reinforce anything that you have already covered in your topic, or if it may introduce the students to some new aspects of the topic. TEACHING IDEAS This resource was designed to give teachers extra ideas on how to create other interesting activities to enrich their crime & punishment topic. TO DIE OR NOT TO DIE (PERSUASIVE WRITING) This resource was designed to encourage the students to use their persuasive writing skills to convince our prime minster either to bring back the death penalty, or to ensure that it is never brought back at all. This can be a great forerunner to the debate resource mentioned above, or can be substituted as a piece of home-learning if time constraints would not make a formal debate possible.
