Year 3 Maths Assessment Tests - YouTube and PowerPoint

I have redeveloped and corrected all my Year 3 Maths Assessment PowerPoints this summer and added a YouTube video to each of them to make them more fun and more useful in the classroom. Try them today! I love Wigan Maths. I have used them constantly in my own classroom since 2000. While these assessments don’t match the current curriculum, they are still an excellent tool for reviewing and revising maths. I took the original tests and I have made it so your students can do all the test in one go, or you can give them a single question, give them a little time to resolve the problem and then discuss what is the answer and why. This is the best use of these Wigan maths tests.

This means teachers can teach the lesson using either the PowerPoint or Youtube version of the lesson and then share the YouTube lesson with their students’ parents. This lesson can then be repeated at home as additional homework. Originally, I was asked to send them to some friends, and so I thought I would share them with all the world via TES. Since then they have been viewed over 40,000 times! This is my most downloaded set of presentations I have ever made on TES.

Halloween Skeleton Counting Song + Writing and Vocabulary Worksheets + 31 Ways to use this resource

(1)
A fun way to teaching counting during Halloween. I have combined three of my Halloween Resources to make them even better this year, a Halloween counting song, Number and Letter Handwriting worksheets linked to Halloween and 31 suggested ways of using these ideas in the classroom. You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different skeletons being shown in each of the photos. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about the Halloween Skeleton Counting Song. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different groups of skeletons. The students can then discuss what they think each skeleton was saying or thinking. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

13 KS2 Maths Tests In a PowerPoint Format from 2016, 2015 and 2014. Questions and Answers

(1)
When I am revising maths, I like to ask a question and then the students answer it on their mini whiteboards. We then check the answer on the following slide. I have combined the test papers with the marking scheme, making teaching and learning a lot more fun. There is differentiated revision material. There are tests for levels 3 - 5, and tests for level 6, and some which are for all the students. All the students should try all the tests, to both consolidate and extend their learning to make sure they have the maximum chance of reaching their true potential. I have presented them in the different PowerPoint formats for the older and more modern computers. Did you know pairing a high achieving and less high achieving child together actually helps both? As the more advanced student explains how to solve a problem, they too improve their knowledge of mathematical vocabulary. If you like this teaching resource, please visit my teaching blog at http://www.TimeToTeach.co.uk If you like these materials, please leave me a nice comment. Nice comments mean a lot to me!

2016 KS2 Sample Maths Papers PowerPoint Pack - COMBINED Questions and Answers

(1)
Sample materials which combine the test papers and mark scheme to help teachers prepare for the 2016 tests. The idea being a student can answer one question and then together the class checks the answers. The original test papers can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/2016-key-stage-2-mathematics-sample-test-materials-mark-schemes-and-test-administration-instructions. This is a great way of reviewing the maths tests as a whole class either as a way of revising after doing the sample tests or simple working through each question as a class.

Year 5 Block 1 Termly Wigan Maths Assessment using YouTube and PowerPoint Presentation. I am now converting all my PowerPoint presentations into YouTube videos PowerPoint Combos. This means teachers can teach the lesson using either the PowerPoint or Youtube version of the lesson and then share the YouTube lesson with their students’ parents. This lesson can then be repeated at home as additional homework. I love Year 5 Wigan Maths Tests. While they are little old and don’t follow the current curriculum, they are still an excellent set of tests for revision purposes. I have taken the traditional tests and converted them all into PowerPoint presentations. On top of this, I have given teachers the option of either letting the students only see the answers at the end or after each question. I really like the second option as it means I can set a question, then give them a little time to think about it or discuss it in pairs and then show them the answer and discuss the different ways different children or different pairs found their answers. This is as much a learning experience as the test itself for many children. I really hope this pack is useful for lots of teachers.

FREE Year 6 Mathematical Challenges For Able Pupils In Key Stages 2 PowerPoint Presentations

When I used the original book with an interactive whiteboard, I was always annoyed at having to skim to the end of the book to show an answer. I wanted it on the next page. In addition, I have now replaced all the pictured with much more stimulating colourful pictures. I have also taken the time to follow the advice of Dudley council and sorted the different problems into age groups and blocks. You will notice there is some repetition of problems both between blocks and in different year groups. The students can try the same problem twice at different times, as this is excellent consolidation. It is also an excellent time to suggest students think about how they could change the problem. How can this be used in the classroom? This could be used as an assessment at the start or the end of a unit. It also could be used as an emergency set of lessons for any teacher while covering another teacher’s maths classes. In addition, it is also an excellent set of resources to prepare for different exams. Look at how the students resolve a problem and identify the different ways different students attempt to answer the same problem. In addition to answering the problems, this is also an excellent time to look into inverse operations. How do we know we have found all the answers? How do we know we have found the correct answer? I have really enjoyed making these mental maths problems a lot more accessible. I have enjoyed teaching them in a wide range of different classes and I hope that you too will enjoy making maths fun.
