This is a Stage 5 Science resource that targets a media claim regarding the safety of microwave ovens. The resource includes a critiquing activity of the validity and reliability of the claim, and follows up with a simple seed germination experiment to test. The document includes teacher notes with links to the NSW syllabus and two student scaffolds for the activity. This resource has been successfully trialled in class and takes 2-3 lessons (spread over a week) to complete.
