This is a worksheet that asks students to investigate Tropical Cyclone Winston that devastated Fiji on 20th February 2016. The first page is a mapping exercise using latitude and longitude to map the path of TC Winston through the islands of Fiji and using the scale to shade in the area of very destructive winds. The second page asks students initially to use the Australian Bureau of Meteorology's website to gather background information on tropical cyclones. Students are then directed to other websites where they can gather information on the preparations made by Fiji before the arrival of the cyclone, the weather associated with the cyclone, the damage done and the cleanup operations afterwards.

Students will need to access internet sources to answers questions or complete tasks relating to background information on the Rally, climate, landforms and environmental sustainability of the 2017 event that began on 2nd January. The resource is a 3 page pdf file and purchase allows you to use the worksheet in as many classes at your school that you wish and also in the classes of colleagues at your school. The worksheet may be useful as extension work, homework or as an assignment that students can complete while the rally is on.
