The first two lessons in my scheme of work aimed at Year 9 for Cold War and Containment. lThe lessons examine the reasons for the Cold War and also asks the question who was to blame. Aimed at Year 9 it can easily be adapted to suit other ages/needs. It starts with a map task where pupils use a Cold War map to figure out what the Cold was. It then takes the form of a card sort to help pupils define and explain the differences between capitalism and communism. The next task uses sources for pupils to work out the reasons for the Cold War - I give pupils different pieces of information and then get them to teach it back to each other to complete their table. All resources are included. Learning Outcomes: To know the difference between communism and capitalism To understand the reasons for the Cold War To assess who was to blame for the Cold War �

I like to stick up the different information bites around the classroom and have pupils move around consulting them. Learning Outcomes: Understand why Germany sought an Armistice. It asks pupils the key question of why the Holocaust was able to happen and often springs much debate.
