Three weeks worth of planning for Cinderboy for year 3 Phase 1 4 Days Learning Outcomes Children will be able to: • Identify the main features of Traditional Tales • Write Super Sentences about a chosen character (using adjectives and powerful verbs for impact) • Write a character profile of their chosen character, using a range of verbs, nouns and adjectives for impact Phase 2 6 Days Learning Outcomes Children will be able to: • Explore the characters in the story of Cinderboy through Book Talk, focussing particularly on what they say and do. • Make use of sentence starter prompts and dialogue frames to discuss characters thoughts and feelings. • Create dialogue for the characters using speech bubbles and or correctly punctuated speech. • Create dialogue and actions for the characters, using synonyms for ‘said’ • Use emotion graphs to plot the changing feelings of Cinderboy throughout the story. • Use dialogue frames to compare the similarities and differences between the story of Cinderella and Cinderboy. • Orally retell the story of Cinderboy, with actions. • Plan their own version of the story of Cinderboy using the Innovation strategy of ‘Alteration’. Phase 3 – 6 Days Learning Outcomes Children will be able to: Use the five part story structure to group their ideas and write their alternative version of the story of Cinderboy, making use of: • A range of descriptive words and phrases from the story • A range of appropriate connectives • Speech marks • Synonyms for ‘said’ Edit their work against a given criteria
