This is a phonic activity to follow up from explicit direct instruction of /ng/ words. The students cut and paste words into different columns according to the sound they hear prior to the /ng/ sound at the end of each word. There are two levels of difficulty.
This is a STEAM project. Students complete Explicit Direct Instruction on patterning skills that use real objects (up to AAB, ABC and ABB patterns). They will design a necklace, make it and critique their necklace. Teachers can extend this activity to look at resources and materials used to create the necklace, cultures that wear necklaces and necklaces that carry cultural significance. Students can also, as part of the art curriculum, reflect on their necklace and provide feedback to peers. As an extension activity, students can cost the materials required, look in shopping catalogues and decide on a fair price.
This is an activity to follow on from explicit direct instruction of patterning skills using real objects. Students can also discuss materials required for the creation of jewellery and cultures that wear necklaces. This activity can extend to the art learning area whereby students critique each others work and give feedback.
