Here is a range of extracts and assessment based questions that can be used to test students knowledge of a Christmas Carol.
There are 15+ questions here than can be used to reflect each stave, and can be easily differentiated and modified as needed.
Here is a great full lesson analysing the poem “Charge of the Light Brigade” by Tennyson. This is ideal for students in KS3, years 7,8,9 .
This lesson will help students to explore and understand the themes in the poem, including conflict. The lesson goes through the poem line by line in detail, looking at and discussing the key themes, poetic devices used as a well as a range of discussion and/or writing activities. There are also attached Drama, pre-reading and comparison activities to extend learning.
There is also an audio version of the poem included too!
This can also be differentiated as required for lower levels by simply removing/simplifying some of the extended activities.
Here is a fantastic scheme of work for summarizing, checking and reviewing the story of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Each lesson looks at each Chapter in detail, recounting key scenes, images, vocabulary and contains lots of speaking, writing and discussion tasks for students. This review could be either combined with other schemes, used at the end as a review, or used alongside the book as there is enough for material for at least (8-10) lessons.
This scheme worked well with mixed ability KS3 learners in Years 8 and 9, and was also used as exam/assessment review practice for KS4 students. However, activities can be easily changed and differentiated as required.
Here is a fantastic lesson for teaching idioms to a range of students ranging from KS1 up to KS2.
It also includes a reveal game for students to play to help review learning that has taken place.
A simple and fun game where students have to guess who the Alien is by working out the emotions and feelings of the other characters in the game.
Students work around the room filling in the emotions and feelings of each of the other characters on their worksheet and then use those to work out who the alien is.
This is a great lesson for KS1/KS2 learners as well as EAL/ESL learners. This is also a useful lesson to help students revise adjectives, superlatives and comparatives.
There are 2 Powerpoint presentations with a low level and higher level lesson.
Videos are also included as well as a game to help consolidate learning.
This is a scheme centred on Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. This has been used with Mid-High ability KS3 and lower to mid KS4 students and covers a wide range of themes in each of the chapters of the story.
Each lesson contains developed learning objectives and key word foci, as well as a starter activity. Periodical homework tasks, assessment tasks and exam style questions are included.
You can either teach this with or without the text, but I have taught this alongside the text, which means this scheme can last between 6-10 1 hour lessons.
Lessons can also be easily differentiated if needed and assessment / exam style tasks can be easily changed if needed.
This scheme works best with KS3 (Year 8-9) learners and lower level KS4 (Year 10) students.
There are no other resources needed than each of the detailed lessons. Enjoy!
This is a full half-term scheme of work focused on Gothic Writing. The scheme covers a wide range of texts and extracts.
There is a wide range of activities to help learners develop their reading and writing skills. All lessons include developed learning objectives, with key word Foci and a main task in each lesson.
This scheme will cover 10-12 full lessons, for 45-60 minutes depending on the ability of learners. This scheme has been used with mid ability KS3 learners and can be easily adapted for different levels of learners if required.

A great scheme and a real time-saver for high school teachers!
This is a full 4/5 Lesson Scheme focused on the Taming of the Shrew and an introduction to Shakespeare. There are a range of reading and writing tasks linked to the taming of the shrew, as well as extracts that are also attached.
The first lesson is a station based lesson where learners can teach each other about life in Shakespeare’s England, before going on to look at the globe theatre, before spending 2/3 lessons looking in detail at the taming of the shrew.
This scheme has been taught to Y5, Y6 and Y7 learners and can be adapted to meet the needs of all learners if required.
Full lesson on personality with 4 personality tests
Here is a great fun lesson for KS1/KS2 and ESL learners all about personality. Students can learn the different personality words and adjectives for description, complete a quiz/game and then write down the answers for each of the 4 personality tests.
They can then get the results of each test to find out the true meaning of each test! This is a lot of fun and has gone done well with many different student groups.
Slides can also be easily adapted to make more simple or difficult as required.

Here is a full 20+ Lesson scheme for An Inspector Calls by J.B Priestley.
Each lesson has differentiated learning outcomes, key word foci and starter tasks, as well as periodical homework and a wide range of writing tasks to suit all levels. This is a great compliment to the play and there are various activities to compliment the scheme of work.
Throughout the scheme is a focus on exam skills, and a range of example questions to be attempted, reflected upon and improved throughout the scheme. There is also a range of character analysis, quote analysis and discussion / speaking and listening tasks.
This can be used both with Year 10 as a first teach scheme and Year 11 as a shortened review of the play. Activities can be easily modelled and modified as needed to suit the abilities and needs of learners.
This scheme is ready to teach, no prep required! The only other resource needed is a copy of the text. Enjoy!

This would be particularly useful for lower level learners and starts with the basics before building up over the 6 lessons.
All materials are also provided, which include students speaking and listening activities, independent activities for students and focused writing activities.

Spelling Challenge Game for KS1 & ESL:
This is a fun and simple spelling challenge game for younger English learners.
Students can split into teams or groups and work together or individually to solve the problems.
The slides are in an easy format so you can easily edit them if needed.
**FULL WORLD FOOD LESSON WITH ACTIVITES AND GAMES **
Here is a FULL lesson on World food, where students can take a journey all over the world learning about different foods.
Throughout the lesson, there are puzzles, quizzes and questions for students to answer. Students can either answer these questions verbally or can write them down on paper.
There are also some review activities throughout to help check for comprehension and understanding.
Hopefully you enjoy it as much as my students did!
Here is a simple and fun ESL/English game called Longest Word. Ideal for KS1/ESL learners.
Students need to try to come up with the longest word using the prompts on the slides.
There are 3 different levels of difficultly.
You can also easily swap out, edit or duplicate slides to add your own levels to each one.
Instructions are added to each slide so it is easy to follow for most levels of learners.
