The ten lessons focuses on Nutrients including Protein, Carbohydrates, Fibre and Water, Vitamins, Minerals and Fats. They are suitable for KS4 students studying food. These lesson have been created for food lessons but they can also be delivered in PE, Nutrition, Health and Science to cover the Nutritional elements of the course. This complete whole lesson can be delivered by a specialist or non-specialist as part of a cover lesson (as all tasks are clear with printables and answers). I have attached a huge amount of detail listing each lessons content. Please read the information for each below, or view the information by clicking on the resource attached to this bundle individually. The lessons include: Proteins x2 lessons - Lesson 1 - theory -Why bodies need protein -Examples of protein food sources -Investigates the structure of a protein -How the properties of proteins change when they are cooked • There is also a practical task for students to complete in groups - the list of stationary materials are included. Students are asked to recreate a chain of amino acids and peptide bonds using string, card etc. I have included this as a task for differentiation and to create a more practical environment for the learnings to grasp the information using an alternative method - “doing” • Students are also asked to create a mind map referring to a hand out which in also included • They will then finally answer an exam question based upon cooking of an egg white protein. The lessons are suitable for KS3, KS4 and 11 students. These lessons are fantastic set as remote learning and home learning tasks as all tasks are clear with printables and answers. All lessons are structured as Starter, Main and Plenary giving the students the consistency like they do when learning in the classroom. Also suitable for Live lessons. The lesson includes: **Shaping Techniques: Die Casting and Sand Casting: Whole Lesson This full lesson includes accurate information for your students to understand Die Casting and Sand Casting. Great to introduce students too - but also for revision. What the PPT includes: • The starter introduces them to an exam style question based on Die Casting - students will be given a hand out explaining the command words which will appear in their exam. They will them highlight the command words and key information in the mock question itself. (this will come in handy later on in the lesson) • Information about the Die Casting and sand casting process - images and videos • Two hand outs - The first task asks students to answer an exam style question relating to Die Casting - They will be given time to answer the question. The second hand out shows a model answer to the question along with the mark scheme. They will be asked to mark the model answer using the mark scheme and reflect. They will they go back to their answer and mark in the same way reflecting after. Plenary - Students will identify the pro’s of each casting process. **Shaping Techniques: Lathe/Milling Machine/CAD-CAM/his PPT is a whole lesson. It’s great to introduce students to the topic of Shaping Techniques when using the Milling machine and Lathe (can also be used for the revision period) - It also explores CAD/CAM when used with these 2 machines/processes. An exam question has also been included focusing on The Milling Machine. The answer for this question has been provided also with highlighted content showing where students will pick up the marks. This is all presented on 1 slide, so you could always show it to the class and run through it to encourage self assessment. The PPT is full of reliable subject information. Videos and imagery are included for those more visual learners and to support understanding and learning **Shaping Techniques: Bending and Shaping PPT is a whole lesson. This PPT is a whole lesson - great for introducing students to the topic or for revision. The lesson cover: Bending Materials – naming 3 types This is a task for students to complete. The task consists of students completing a detailed table by unscrambling the function of each bending type and example products. Answers have been provided on the next slide for the convenience of teacher and student. Students to answer a practice question - PPT includes model answer and encourages students to self reflect and improve their answer. **Power and Machine tools - PPT and Comprehensive Task Here you have a PPT displaying the key power tools and machine tools (which are featured in the CGP revision guide) all of the information which the students need to know for the exam are included, as the information has been used from the revision guide. The information is clear and includes images. You will also receive a comprehensive sheet, which has been differentiated (low and high ability) It has been advised for the teacher to print most of the ppt slides as flashcard (using the print 6 per page setting) and for the students to complete the comprehensive sheet. The teacher will then dedicate time to run through the questions and answers and the students to self mark. There is a plenary at the end to encourage students to move around the room and answering/asking as many questions to a peer in 30 seconds. **Manufactured Boards- PPT and Task Handout Here you will find a full lesson teaching students about manufactured boards. The two lessons focuses on Food Provenance and Growth and is suitable for KS3, KS4 and 11 students. The lessons cover food provenance, food miles, soil types, organic vs non-organic, food science, seasonality, classification of fruit and vegetables, assessment sheet, readiness sheet and recipe. The lessons include: Lesson 1: This Powepoint covers Food Provenance of Fruit and vegetable as of a whole lesson. Very colourful, informative and includes a variety of videos and task (task sheets are included). PPT covers: • Food provenance • Food miles • Students to invistigate growing conditions of a variety of fruit and vegetables (Student led) The PPT is divided into three sections - Starter, main and plenary. It includes videos, informative information clearly presented on the PPT and student led tasks with hand outs included. Can be used for all exam boards. (Please note that this PPT names the 6 soil types, but they do not explore them in detail, as I will include this in the lesson 2 PPT. Students are encouraged to explore them on the internet as an extension task, but as mentioned will be explored further in the following lesson) Lesson 2: This powerpoint cover: • seasonality of fruit and vegetables - encouraging students to plan soups reflecting on specific seasons (students will be making a vegetable soup in their final lesson) • organic vs non organic soil types • food science - how vegetables are cooked • H/w sheet - classifications of fruit and vegetable This PPT covers the whole lesson, includes task sheet and homework sheets. This joyous Christmas Wreath activity is suited for KS3, KS4 and GCSE students. This project is cross-curricular suited for History, English, Modern Foreign Language, RE, Maths, Form time, P.S.E, Art & Design, D&T and Food. The tasks focus creating a Rainbow Christmas Wreath inspired by the rainbow Covid-19 affect. It includes all tasks and printables. Fun, engaging and great for student well-being. Please read the task below: The nation has been displaying rainbows to honour the bravery of our wonderful NHS and to promote togetherness & safety throughout the COVID pandemic. Task: This Christmas let’s start a new message of love and hope by crafting Rainbow Christmas Wreaths. Let’s share the love this Christmas by re-using materials/ingredients in your homes or school and bringing your front doors some Christmas joy for 2020. Collaborate with your class to make an honouree Rainbow Wreath , make it a rainbow to remember. The DIY tutorials and step-by-step craft/bake ideas follow social distancing with as little material as possible – re-using materials which are readily available in your home or school. If you make your leaf at home, take it into school to add to the class wreath. The class collaboration project asks students to design and make a single leaf, which will form a Rainbow Wreath, to be hung on the classroom door or displayed in the school. (Meets Social distancing throughout) Students are provided with a single leaf worksheet to help them design before making can start. Teachers can provide students with extra materials if required: glue, scissors, material and pens (teachers choice). Once the leaves are made the wreath can be glued together. Note: A teacher can do this after 72 hours of touching paper- Government Guidance. All printables provided with step by step and examples.
