The Broken Pencil

I am working on developing a Chemistry Curriculum for AQA. I am saving time with providing recourses with up to date metacognitive tools: retrieval practice in each lesson , knowledge organizer, use of exam questions for revision and in lessons were appropriate. I have chosen the "Broken Pencil" title because I find a lot of pencils on the floor of the school, some broken some in working order, but there are not enough pen and pencil for the students to use in the classroom.

Decomposition after death ( BTEC Applied Science)

This power point is created to support my BTEC students in describing the changes that happen to the body after death. The process is explained in easy to follow diagrams. This was better presentation for my students due to cognitive overload being reduced drastically. I needed to learn this myself so I used this web site: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK539741/#:~:text=Putrefaction%3A,spreads all over the body.

Flame Test

Flame Test

(0)
A power point relating to the flame test, designed for low ability students in mind. I set the stations around the room with each element and asked the students to move clockwise from station to station and record the color of the flame. They had fun. It asks them to discuss the expectations of the test ( at the start) and discuss the benefits of the test ( at the end). There is a quick quiz to see if they have remembered the color of the flame for each element.
