Mathematics - I don't add a lot, but what you see will not be run of the mill. So, if you are looking for worksheets to print out... look away! If you want games and activities that make pupils think... well take a look. As for me - I have almost 30 years of teaching experience and for about 4 years, was one of the Directors at the NCETM.

This is for anyone needing tables practice. From year 4 to year 11 and beyond! I believe that the very format of times tables sums adds complexity (3 x 4 = ?) . Along with the ‘tables’ themselves which means that children often try to remember the place of a sum in the times table and not the multiplication fact. Then you also have competition. These are NON-competitive apart from encouraging self-competition (meta-cognition anyone??). All the instructions are included, start simply with the 1x table… yes, really. It gets the children used ot the format. Then… well, go up to 12x, 13x,14x there is no limit. Extension tasks: I am really keen that if a child knows that 3 x 4 =12, they should also know 3 x 40=120 and 3 x 0.4 = 1.2 so the extension tasks test that. Great discussion starters here as well. Finally, the last set contain division as well. 3 x ? = 12. but of course NOWHERE will they see a ‘sum’. It is all done in their head. Please leave feedback. The simple 4 minute tests

I believe that the format of times tables and multiplication tests adds to the difficulty and anguish associated with memorizing times tables. These 4 minute multiplication tests provide some differentiation, remove potential anxiety and are quick and easy.
