These sheets give children some ideas for how to start a catchy sentence in the dilemma or resolution stage of their story, and also allows them to customise each sentence to fit their particular story or writing style, as many children in KS2 can find it tricky to transition from writing a build up to a dilemma in a story. Helpful also for Y5/6 SEN children who require prompts or written examples to aid with idea and sentence generation. Group project involving 3D shapes. Children design a scene to be constructed using 3D shapes. Over 2 lessons, children design a scene, and are given 3D shape nets to color in and assemble to bring their scene to life. Children also fill in a project booklet that requires them to count the number of faces, edges, and vertices for each shape, record the amount of each shape they need, and the total amount of faces, edges and vertices in their entire scene. A multi-faceted project involving shape, teamwork, design, planning, construction, counting, multiplication and addition. This lesson is designed to introduce children to the concept of editing work for punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Instead of launching children into editing, this lesson allows for some practise so they can grasp the skills needed to properly scan and correct their work efficiently. It is geared towards a Year 3 class who are just being introduced to editing in the first few weeks of school to help give them the confidence to begin editing their own work and others’ work. In this investigation, children are challenged to look outside and around their school grounds to find examples of maths. This lesson is designed for a summer term investigation, where children draw upon the maths strands they've covered and try to find examples of fractions, angles, shapes, etc in real-life spaces.
