Writing Dilemmas and Resolutions in a Story

These sheets give children some ideas for how to start a catchy sentence in the dilemma or resolution stage of their story, and also allows them to customise each sentence to fit their particular story or writing style, as many children in KS2 can find it tricky to transition from writing a build up to a dilemma in a story. Helpful also for Y5/6 SEN children who require prompts or written examples to aid with idea and sentence generation. EXAMPLES from the sheets: • ________ turned the corner and began sprinting as fast as __________. • There were ____________ all around me. Puzzled, I walked towards the __________ to investigate. • We were relieved that _____________. With smiles on our faces, we headed back ____________. • After putting up a good fight, they were unable to ______________.
