These sheets give children some ideas for how to start a catchy sentence in the dilemma or resolution stage of their story, and also allows them to customise each sentence to fit their particular story or writing style, as many children in KS2 can find it tricky to transition from writing a build up to a dilemma in a story. Helpful also for Y5/6 SEN children who require prompts or written examples to aid with idea and sentence generation. 3D Shape Construction Project

Group project involving 3D shapes. Children design a scene to be constructed using 3D shapes. Over 2 lessons, children design a scene, and are given 3D shape nets to colour in and assemble to bring their scene to life. Children also fill in a project booklet that requires them to count the number of faces, edges, and vertices for each shape, record the amount of each shape they need, and the total amount of faces, edges and vertices in their entire scene. A multi-faceted project involving shape, teamwork, design, planning, construction, counting, multiplication and addition. An imaginative project that gives children the freedom to create a thriving country, drawing on various facets of geographical knowledge and skills. Children are challenged to design their own imaginary countries. In a span of three lessons, children will be given a sheet of grid paper with which to design and draw/shade their own countries, labelling with appropriate geographic vocabulary. The second part of this project requires children to describe their country and answer challenging questions that discuss land use, economy, topography, etc. Extensions: - Use a visualiser to look at a map and discuss its pros/cons - Select 4-5 good quality maps and split children into groups to recreate a scale model of the country using chicken wire, mod roc, paint, etc. Pack includes a pupil planning sheet, notebook, question sheet and lesson outline.

2-3 week Geography/ICT project. Children investigate and research different regions in the United States and plan a family holiday. Groups of 3-4 create an itinerary of places for their family to go, what they will do, see, eat, etc. in 3 states in their region. Pack includes a road trip workbook (instructions, success criteria, organisation chart, checklist), and detailed organisation sheet for groups. Also includes a blank book that children can use to place their information and pictures. A hands-on, investigative and challenging research project that is very thorough and provides several creative opportunities for children. Geared towards a Year 5/6 class.
