The Naked Truth - An Ancient Greek 'mockumentary' humorous play script

The Naked Truth - An Ancient Greek 'mockumentary' humorous play script

A short comic play about the novelty of the first Olympic games in Ancient Greece. Part of this play lends itself to a bit of movie making that you can insert into the performance. I did it in a speeded up 'Goodies/Benny Hill' seventies style that worked really well although you could do it as a black and white silent, or as live stage acting. The possibilities are endless and exciting!!! You could make a film out of the whole thing - and don't worry, all nakedness is heavily censored (which is more than can be said for Ancient Greek pottery!!)Could be used in the assembly hall, theatre or classroom, or as an inspiration for comic script writing. Enjoy.

Timeline Ancient Greece Poster

Timeline Ancient Greece Poster

This timeline shows the history of the Ancient Greek Civilization, divided into the most common periods. Above the timeline you will find a short description of the highlights of each period in the same colour as that period on the timeline. Below the timeline, important events are added in the colours of each period. The specific events that marked the transitions between the different periods are added with thicker borders and fading colours.I refer to this poster almost every lesson when I'm teaching Greek or ancient history! It is very useful to allow the students to keep an overview in their mind when we're talking about a specific historical event or person. My students have gotten so used to my poster that they for example say that Plato of course lived in the "yellow" period, that Homer's texts are from the "blue" period and that the story of Theseus and the Minotaur is situated in the "pink" period. The file is large and detailed enough to print on an A1 format as a poster. I have a Dutch version available too.

Card Sort & Top Trumps: Famous people and their impact on medicine through time

Over the years I've had a lot of fun teaching with these great resources. They can be used together as a revision exercise or used separately as starters or plenary activities. Once you have made the Top Trumps, they can recycled as starters and plenaries until the time of the exams. The first resource is a simple card matching exercise. It includes a list of twelve famous men and twelve matching cards that summarise briefly their contribution to medicine through time. Once students have completed this task, I usually ask them to sort the cards into the correct chronological order. This should take about 15 minutes depending upon the class. The second resource, which also includes the aims and objectives contains some blank Top Trump Cards which the students can complete about each individual. There is space for the famous individual's name, time period, short and long term contribution as well as there overall contribution to medicine. Students can use the text books or their notes to help fill in these sections. They should also give each section a score out of ten for when they play the Top Trump game.As a revision exercise both these resources work really well together. You could also use them to investigate and find out about each person and their contribution. These resources are I supplied in Word and PowerPoint so you can easily adapt them for your class. Your students can also create addition Top Trump Cards for other famous people as a bit of stretch and challenge. The aims and objectives are:Theme: Medicine Through TimeKnow: Which famous people have contributed to medicine?Understand: What did they discover or contribute?Evaluate: How important was their contribution / discovery?WILF – What Am I Looking For?Identify & describe: Which key individuals have made contributions to medicine?Explain: Why were their contributes important?Evaluate: How significant was their contribution to the growth of medical knowledge? If you like this resource then why not check out my other resources on this topic in my TES shop.
