Persuasive writing: film review of Alice in Wonderland

This animated Power Point show cases a review of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp and students can scan the review paragraph by paragraph trying to spot persuasive devices. Pupils are required to match language devices to their definitions. They are required to distinguish between fact and opinion. A brief history of film is described and different pupils vote for their favourite film genres . Film terminology and definitions need to be matched such as binary opposition and protagonist. Finally students are required to write their own film review and are given tips how to structure their writing.Suitable for ages 12+

Objective: To identify the different features of an effective SWOT analysis. To revise concept art and prototypes.Outcomes:To apply our knowledge of development tools to assess the effectiveness of SWOT.Literacy objective: Effect/AffectPupils start by discussing the advantages of a SWOT analysis and rank how confident they are in their books 1-10. Then pupils read through the model SWOT and highlight key points. This scaffolds for their 20 mark question as they are discussing and finding examples. Lesson then goes through marking criteria e.g. distinction/pass/merit answers. Pupils then have 10 minutes to write - timer included.
