Transition booklet and social story SEN

Transition booklet and social story SEN

Download includes three documents.1. Transition booklet: designed to be conducted with the student with support. It introduces the student, who their teachers will be and what will be the same and different in the upcoming year. (spaces to insert pictures or for the child to draw themselves and their new teacher)I'd suggest that they are done in school to gain context but be taken home to support students over the holidays. 2. Same and different pictures: a page of pictures which students can sort into same and different for the upcoming year. Would be great as a class circle time to explain to the students and for them to ask questions to ease anxiety. They can also be used as a cut and stick exercise for page three of the transition booklet. (e.g. friends, classroom, teacher, lunch time, play time, learning, playground etc)3. Back to school social story: A social story to ease the transition from the holidays to school in September.

Climate Change Crosswords

Climate Change Crosswords

Climate Change Crosswords is a pdf document containing 5 crosswords that focus on the greenhouse effect, global warming, and climate change - and what we can do about it. There isa bonus puzzle about the Amazon Basin - perhaps the most significant region in terms of climate change. There's another crossword on The Might Mi__i__i__i River. (And then some more on Africa, Asia and Europe - for a rainy day.)Climate change is real, it’s here, and it’s getting worse, but there’s hope. That’s the message of these crosswords. Climate change is happening because of global warming which is happening because humans burn too much fossil fuel, cut down way too many trees, use cars instead of bicycles, throw away too much food, and farm too many animals. The glaciers are retreating. The ocean is warming. The polar ice masses are melting. The sea level is rising. More extreme weather events are occuring. And the worst affected are the poorest people because they tend to live near the edges of rivers and the sea. What can we do about it? Each puzzle includes suggestions. Hopefully these crosswords educate students about what is happening to the earth’s climate and its people. Hopefully they’ll learn why it’s happening and how climate change can be stopped, or mitigated. There’s something a little sneaky and tricky about crosswords. Kids feel compelled to finish them. Try them.

Summer Building Sentences Activity for Speech Therapy

Summer Building Sentences Activity for Speech Therapy

Forming Sentences (21 pages) for Autism and Special Education, Speech Therapy, OTForming sentences is very important for young learners or those with autism. This activity uses real-life pictures for easy recognition of common objects and sight words as sentence starters. It is perfect for early readers. This is also an activity to practice identifying the attributes of what, the number, and the color of a group of items. There are 15 groups of items. The student will match the corresponding picture to answer the questions - What? How Many? There are 2 ways to use this file:1. Print the first 15 pages and use the pages as a “cut and paste” activity. The students will use glue to paste the correct answers where necessary.2. Print all the pages on photo paper and laminate them. Cut out the pages containing the numbers and pictures. There are 2 pages that serve as boards for the types of answers (“what?”, “how many?”). Use Velcro on the back side of each card and in the middle of each blank square on the boards as well as on each square containing the questions. Thus the activity can be reused as many times as needed. *** Students can build 2 types of sentences:-using cards with words and hints (dots for the numers and pictures for the object words), then-using cards with only words, as shown on the title page. This is a great matching activity for K and 1st gr and for students with autism.
