A lesson on rounding to whole numbers, 10’s, 100’s and 1000’s.

The lesson starts with some talking points as to why we need this skill in daily life.

This has a printable slide where the teacher can cut up the cards and place them around the room for the children to do a maths loop. (It can be skipped if this is not suitable for your classroom or your students) There are a number of examples. There is then a chance for students to create a number of questions of peers to answer. Again only do this if you have the right seating plan such as Kagan Seating plan or similar.

There is then a separate PowerPoint for a who wants to be a millionaire style game for rounding. This can be done via class vote or any similar system. I’ve also done it by using a digital student selector so that no pupil uses it as a time to stop engaging.
