Before you apply

Search for a course using our course finder or view the course page. Each course page includes an introduction to the course and entry requirements, so you can decide if it's the right course for you, as well as links to apply.

How to apply

You can apply for many of our courses using our online application form. Information about the documents you should include to support your application is available on our course pages. You'll need to complete our online application form in one session. Please be prepared to answer all the questions before you begin your application.

For some of our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) routes you'll need to apply using the government's Find postgraduate teacher training courses search. This process is explained on relevant the course pages.

After you apply

If you've applied via our online application form we may contact you to complete a follow-up form or second stage application after which we'll send you an email informing you of our decision on your application and what you need to do next.

If you've applied via the government's Find postgraduate teacher training courses search for one of our ITT routes, we'll receive your application through the Department for Education (DfE) portal. If you've applied to one of our partnerships, they'll receive your application. Our experienced team of staff will review your application and if you're eligible for training and your application is appropriate, we'll contact you to take your application to the next stage. We may phone you to discuss your application further or we may invite you directly to interview in your school.

At your interview you will:

  • Give a presentation about the teaching of your subject
  • Be observed teaching a short lesson to a small group of pupils

  • Discuss your experience, skills and potential

  • Take assessments in English and maths

We'll send you an information pack before your interview and you'll have the opportunity to talk to one of our team to get any questions answered.

Following the interview, you'll find out very quickly if you've been successful, usually within 24 hours. We'll then begin our safeguarding and compliance checks and make you a formal offer, which may be conditional on you providing further documentation. We'll keep in touch with you at every step.
