Science Day or Science Week Presentation - videos, introduction to science and draw a scientist

(0)
Science week is a great time to discuss the importance of science. Some countries such as India have Science Day, while other celebrate International Science Week. The idea is for the students to draw a scientist at the start of the lesson... then compare what they thought science was (generally a wild haired, white guy doing crazy stuff in a lab) with what they thought science was at the end of the lesson and hopefully there has been a change of ideas. This presentation has links to 2 great YouTube videos which explain why science is so important to everyone. I also listed some of key branches of science, with a brief introduction and pictures. The idea is to discuss how science affects our every day life and how in reality, we are all scientists at heart.

Painting, Pictures and Photographs Visual Story Prompts - Creative Writing Using All 5 Sense

These creative writing sheets help to make creative writing and story telling a lot more fun. The creative writing prompts ask the students to imagine they are directly inside the picture. What do they see, feel, touch, taste and smell. These writing prompts will help your students to write a richer, more detailed description of a scene. This is a great way to practice for the KS1 SATs tests and the KS2 SATs tests while still having a lot of fun! You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different locations being shown in each of the photos. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching set of story prompts. The students could also take five of the laminated photos and create them into a story . The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

Big Grammar Books 1 and 2 Together! 202 Beginner Worksheets for pupils (few overlaps between them)

(2)
Big Grammar Book 1: It’s jam-packed from cover to cover with a great selection of photocopiable worksheets taken from the popular website. We wanted to provide teachers with a really useful book of no-nonsense grammar worksheets that they can dip into and use in class with students at Entry Level (ESOL Core Curriculum Entry Levels 1 & 2). It is also ideal for students to work with at home since the answers are all printed at the back. The book is divided into four parts and is graded in difficulty, so that it begins with some basic stuff and builds up to more challenging grammar activities. It features a selection of Essential English worksheets which provide practice for crucial basic areas of knowledge for learners at Entry Level, like using numbers, writing the alphabet, spelling days and months correctly, and so on. Big Grammar Book 2: Like its older sibling, BGB 2 is packed with 101 printable worksheets for teaching and improving grammar skills in English. The topics are wide and varied, starting with Essential English worksheets that cover the basics, like the alphabet, days, months, and telling the time; then tenses (a lot about tenses!), then irregular verbs, question forms, word order in sentences, parts of English, uncountable nouns, and so on! If you have used the first BGB, you will know what to expect from this one. Around 25% of the worksheets in this book are closely modelled on activities in BGB 1, for example Full Stops 1 & 2 (pp.68-69). The material starts off at beginner level, with the alphabet worksheets, then gets progressively more difficult, while staying in Elementary (A1 / A2) level. Only towards the end do things get “tougher”, with articles, conditionals, and phrasal verbs making their inevitable appearance! Don’t worry – all the answers and notes for use are included at the back of this book.

Qatar History And Citizenship - Year 6 - 39 Lesson Plans And Worksheets

(1)
Qatar History and Citizenship is a compulsory subject for any primary school teacher in Qatar. When I taught this subject in Qatar, I was surprised to discover how thin the student text book was, how little resources were available for students on the Internet and that there was no teacher guide to help teachers effectively teach this subject. This Year 6 teaching pack contains lesson plans and additional worksheets to support 39 weekly lessons. These lessons cover all a student needs to know about the subject, and the lessons are designed to motivate and excite a student's interest in the history around them. These worksheets could be printed out and used as workbooks in the classroom, sent home as additional homework or shared via an interactive whiteboard. *** Please note that these resources are designed to be used with the official text book, not as a replacement. ***

English teachers can use big grammar book 2 in class, although it may be better to use the worksheets for homework and let students focus on speaking and listening and group work – producing language – in class. It is ideal for private study – i.e. homework or self-study – and also for use in online lessons. Teachers can adapt the worksheets in this book, and I would positively encourage them to treat many of the pages as templates for producing their own activities. For example, the sentence building worksheets (from p.60) would be ideal for adaptation, among many others. I hope you enjoy learning English with big grammar book 2! Remember, a good understanding of English grammar will open doors of opportunity.
