The performance of multi-academy trusts in school Ofsted inspections has been revealed in new research, published today.

The research by Education Datalab breaks down MAT performance in both primary and secondary school inspections.

The table below shows what proportion of secondary schools in each MAT was rated as “good” or better by Ofsted.

There is also a table measuring MATs by primary school Ofsted ratings.

MAT Ofsted ratings: secondary schools

*The research only includes schools that have been with a MAT for at least three years - in line with the Department for Education’s own MAT trust performance tables.

Of the 494 secondaries looked at in the research, 27 had not been inspected by Ofsted under their current trust. All of these schools were rated as “good” or better at their last inspection, so their inclusion will have boosted some trusts’ ratings.
