The International Baccalaureate has cancelled all exams for its Middle Years Programme (MYP), following its decision to cancel exams for the IB Diploma and career-related programmes last month.
In a statement, the IB said that its MYP exams - the culmination of five years of secondary education through the MYP programmes, with pupils assessed at 16 - would no longer go ahead because of the coronavirus outbreak.

“The IB understands that the situation at present is very difficult for schools, students and parents and wishes to offer its empathy and support during this time,” the statement read.

“As a global organisation, it is critical that the IB provides options to its community based on compassion and fairness for everyone.
“Based on considerable advice from stakeholders across the world, and after undertaking a survey of a representative sample of its global IB World School community, the IB has determined what it believes to be the most ethical way forward.”
It also said that the May 2020 e-assessment on-screen examinations would no longer be held.
The IB said it would issue e-portfolio and personal project grades to students, and that “MYP certificate will be awarded, reflecting achievements from a combination of personal project, e-portfolio subjects, and predicted grades from other subjects”.
