Springfields Academy (North Site), Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join the School in September 2022.

Location: The Springfields Academy (North Site), Curzon Street, Calne, SN11 0DS

FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade G, Point 12 -14, £23,023 - £24,920 pro-rata for part time contract

Contract Type: Permanent, part time, term-time (39 weeks)

Contract Hours: 31.75 hours per week; Monday to Friday

About the role

We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to work across our setting. 

Main job purpose:

• To cover lessons and learning activities, both planned and unplanned for all pupils across the academy as directed by the cover team and leadership.
• To contribute to the planning, delivery and monitoring of learning activities
• To assist in the support and inclusion of children with a wide range of special educational needs and difficulties within the Academy. The ages of the pupils involved range from 5-16
• To support pupils’ academic and social communication needs (linked to diagnosis of autism) and to support positive social and emotional wellbeing, enabling them to engage in learning in and out of the school environment.

About the successful candidate

The position of Cover Supervisor is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and compassionate individual to lead lessons, interventions and support our learners with autism. 

Key skills: 

• To have a good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriate strategies to support pupils with this need. E.g. TEACCH
• To have knowledge and understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs, that affect children and young people’s development. 
• Excellent listening skills
• An ability to build strong, trusting relationships 
• To be resilient and  able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning /activities
• Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in the learning and social skills activities 
• To use positive and personalised anxiety management strategies

About the School

The Springfields Academy is a Reach South Academy for young people aged 5-19 with autism. We have 170 pupils attending our Calne site and 40 pupils at our Satellite provision in Salisbury.  Our goal is to build safe independent lives for autistic young people through support, understanding and enablement.

Springfields is a fantastic, vibrant and caring community that engages pupils and develops positive attitudes to learning. Our autism approach is accessed by all our pupils and is personalised to meet specific needs. All our pupils have an education, health and care plan.

About the Trust

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education.  We operate 14 academies in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Dorset and Wiltshire.  We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles.
